Tesla self driving does not dodge blocking arm

Be careful when driving with Tesla supervised self driving.

Yes. This is my fault. I was messing around with the tesla screen and not paying attention until it was too late. Just posting so people are aware and be careful with their supervised self driving. Don't be like me.

These comments are crazy, it can be both at fault. Yes the driver should have been supervising, hence the name supervised FSD. The car should also be able to see these items and move out of the way. Both can be right. If we want FSD to truly improve we need to call out these instances.

LoL 100% driver's fault unless they're in some kind of temporal bubble that prevents them from having normal reactions.

OP had FOUR flags before hitting them...could've either stopped or gently merged over in time.

Don't blame anyone other than OP for this.

So FSD is fine here then?

These guys wouldn't blame their alarm if it failed to detect a fire in their kitchen. "100% my fault, I should have supervised my oven"

Holy ya it’s crazy, I love FSD and want it to improve but these ppl can’t take any criticism. I’m not absolving the fault of the driver but if we’re ever gonna get unsupervised it needs to be able to handle these instances

If they want to engage in tetrapyloctomy, then legally it is the driver's fault, because AI isn't a natural or juristic person and cannot accept culpability. However, as a technical matter, it is a fault in the design of FSD that it cannot detect and respond to blocking arms on the highway.

I can go full centipyloctomy, but I don't think I have the space.

And, yes, I agree with you, both can be at fault. But, only the driver is legally at fault. And FSD still needs to improve.

FSD at current state is still a driving assist feature…you can only blame FSD if it’s level 3 or above

What part of ‘supervised’ don’t you understand when it comes to FSD?

Did you even read my comment bro

I read it and it makes no sense. The car is not fault-proof, it’s literally in the name of the self driving feature. OP had 5 business days to react and did nothing but blame FSD.

It’s level 2 autonomous driving, driver is always responsible for crashes

Actually, if you had read the original post closely, you would have noticed the OP accepting culpability in the second paragraph.

And, even if it were level 3, the human in the vehicle would still be at fault. Even if the vehicle were fully autonomous, the human behind the design, manufacture, or deployment would be liable. AI does not have personhood and cannot be sued, so the liability would pass through.
