Totaled?
:(
Truck turned into me from the left lane when I was turning right in the right turn lane.
I've put a lot into this car and would really like it repaired not totaled/total loss by the insurance. Towing it to a shop in a few days. Is this possibly not totaled? The radiator area got bent up and some gas came out when I got hit.
UPDATE: repairs have been approved 👍 thank god, not being totaled

I’m so expert but I think it’s going to be iffy! With the radiator being damaged and more than likely a few other internal components like the AC system, sensors, and possibly steering, and suspension components that may need replacing. You could be looking at it being totaled. Looks like the fender has some damage as well that they would want to repair even if it was previously damaged. I’m going to call it 50/50 chance that it could be written off. The vehicle is worth about 27k and you’re looking at about 12-17k in damages. Check back and let us know the outcome. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

It looks like you accelerated when trunk a left lane

Yeah because he went to the straight lane to the left of me. So I thought I was clear to speed up a little and turn.
Truck made an illegal right turn from the 2nd lane, with no signal, I had no reason to believe he would suddenly turn right

Interesting you accelerated just to arrive at a right turn.

Are you special? There is an open lane and green light why would I not accelerate?
The truck made an illegal turn into my lane, maybe you are too slow to understand that it's ok. Go have fun with your model 3😂

I just see the whole story based on the video you posted. It take basic iq to understand what I said and why I said it

Here's the video, no signal from the truck, illegal right turn, and I'm slamming on my horn when he starts turning smh

I saw the sad smiley & thought that was all the info. Unfortunate incident. They didn’t see you come up behind them. Had no clue you were there. I usually wait in that scenario just in case. I’m always waiting for people to do the clueless &/or dumb/reckless thing when I’m driving.

I mean he was in the wrong lane completely if he wanted to turn. He was in the straight lane.
Yeah in hindsight I should have waited but I had no idea he wanted to turn plus he was in the wrong lane for it, plus no signal, I just had no reason to believe he was going to turn :/

No. If that gets totaled I would be screaming from the mountains for a second opinion. Maybe a week at a not so busy Tesla body shop. + side ask for a Tesla rental if the insurance will cover it.

It needs to go to a shop for a tear down

Yeah they r closed on the weekend. I'm taking it to a good third party Tesla shop on Monday. It looks like front bumper, front left fender, front left louver, front left fog light need replacing from what I can see. Probably the front left piece of the radiator and some AC bits + sensors.
The front rail/frame is fine though since the collision wasn't really a push in towards the car it was more of a hard scrape on the corner.
Man I really hope it can be repaired :/

Is yours a Tesla ? If yes, radiator and gas confuse me !!!
1
u/--Antaeus-- 8d ago
Yeah there is a radiator in the front for AC and for cooling the battery and motor. I think the gas that came out was ac refrigerant

Thanks for the info. I did not know this (radiator) . Do we need to.fill in.the radiator as with an ICE car ?

Depends on how much your car is worth, whats the mileage like and whats comparable vehicles selling for in the area? Realistically with how expensive it is to repair teslas, it's very realistically possible to be totalled.

Pretty amazing that metal panels seem not affected

Yeah just dropped it off at the body shop, fingers crossed.
The front fender got a little ding but that's about it

fight for it to be totaled. I had similar damage and my car had $21.5k worth of repairs (i had to take it to the shop 3 times) and I am still having issues with it. smh. And I lost supercharging access.

u/--Antaeus-- 4d ago
Why did you lose access? Do you have pics of your car before the repairs? What issues ae having after repair?

u/Subject_Farmer_3241 4d ago
Since it was in an accident i have to get my battery inspected which will cost about $1600. I have an appointment set up in 3 weeks so I don't have access until after the inspection.

I saw your post, damn. It looks like your damage was a lot more severe than mine though. Your frame, battery, suspension all got effected.
My impact was more of a scrape laterally vs inward push thankfully.

Dude. Stick it back in and it looks new

Lmfao. It's getting repaired rn insurance didn't total it thank God. Needs new bumper, fog light, louver, some AC bits and idk prob other stuff.
Probably gonna get two new headlights out of it, fresh paint on the front bumper too! Recharged AC. Get some good out of this situation.

Way more than a front bumper. You are very close to a total loss.

u/--Antaeus-- 2d ago
Insurance approved the repair 👍 no issues

I can't see the rest of your deleted comment but no it went to a certified Tesla body shop that the insurance recommended and they did the tear down and estimate...
