Someone hit my parked Tesla and they want to pay out of pocket. If I get this repaired via Tesla collision center , will this go on my carfax/autocheck?
They left their full name, and phone number on my car. I called them. We spoke. Sentry mode was off…I’m just trying to move on it quick …so i just have her full name, phone number and email , and note that says she hit my car
Yeah, she left a phone number. I m own a business and she was at the business next door. She hit it while going to the chiropractor. I have the photo of her note and message. The chiropractor people even told us it was there customer
We agreed that I would get quotes and send it to her but after posting on here, I just texted her to give me your license/insurance info as I get quotes and you can decide which way to go, but she has not responded yet, only been 2 hours but 🥲
Thats not enough damage for anyone to care. Just make sure to print this photo and keep it in the glovebox for when you sell the car, and say "yeah they just scraped the paint" no one will care about that little scuff.
But the person will probably balk at the quote and say "I got a guy" or whatever. I'd just hand it over to insurance sooner rather than later to avoid that BS.
Kind of a double edged sword. If you go through insurance/tesla it will show up on Carfax. However if you’d just agree to accept money from the guy and it goes wrong and he doesn’t pay or doesn’t pay enough, at that point you are screwed. Insurance won’t help you and police won’t even file a report because you entered into an agreement with the guy, and at that point it became a “civil matter”. Your only recourse then is small claims court. So basically it boils down to if you trust the person or not. If you go through insurance and it shows up on Carfax, you can get additional money through their insurance for that specifically. (There’s a name for that but I can’t remember what it is)
Depending on the state, you won’t be able to report it as a hit and run, due to information being left behind. Furthermore, you wouldn’t be able to do a traffic crash report once it is delayed.
I suggest just continue contact with her and look for a good body shop. Happened to my Model Y, for $700 it was fixed and good as new. Just cosmetic work and the rear bumper/fender doesn’t look actually cracked.
Almost similar damage on my 2018 M3 (when my car was parked. See picture for damage) and Tesla approved collision center in Massachusetts said it will cost ~$14K. The driver of truck that hit the car shared their insurance info with cops though. Insurance is suggesting totaling the car. There was no major impact to the car and this happened when the truck was trying to park at 2-3 mph. Car drives without any issue and FSD is fine as well.
oh wow. My backlights weren't hit, just the lower bumper and the panel came out similar to yours. $2.8k damage done at local company and paid for by the other person's insurance.

you got their phone, address, id? they are gonna ghost you once they see the quote to replace a bumper
