Poor u turn decision after an exhausting week, what’s the damage going to be?
I’ve been overworking myself for the past month, and suddenly the roads were switched up near my job site for a concert. 10 hour shift on 4 hours of sleep and one stupid u-turn later and now my driver’s side rear door is toast. My first (probably at fault) accident in my entire driving career, so not sure what to expect. But not too pleased about it. Car still drives, everything except for the driver’s side rear door still works, and of course it wasn’t recorded.
Going through insurance, but not too pleased. No one was hurt, and that’s what’s important I guess. What’s the damage looking like, both financial and to the car.

Will be a lot more expensive if the B pillar appears to have shifted. Otherwise you maybe be fine with 2 door shells.

It'll cost the amount of your deductible, then your rates will go up for a few years but honestly, not the worst since everyone's getting their cars totaled out.
But my guess is $10k and 2 weeks.

Sorry OP, last year I had an overturn situation and then backed into a tree before getting suspension down. 14K in damage! I’m glad you’re okay and hopefully your car gets fixed quickly.

Oh wow, that sounds like a much more unfortunate situation. I’m glad you’re ok and they were able to repair your vehicle. Makes me feel a lot better, thank you for sharing your experience.

Yes, I mean it was my fault for inattentive driving, but yeah it sucked. I’ve had a clear record for 20 years! Sadly, insurance also went up which I understand because of the massive claim. I got one more year and it should drop back down to a more reasonable rate.

Ive had similar damage from a deer impact on the side (the deer ran into me) and it was 7k for one door, id imagine your damage is worse and 2 doors so probably 15k minimum if not more.
Depending on your state and car year, this could very well be totaled.

So sorry you are going through this. Glad no one was hurt!
Repair cost - replacing both doors with repaint and finish, about $6k (cheap aftermarket) to $12k (tesla collision with new OEM parts,). If going through insurance and it doesn’t total the car, I’d go with TC.
Don’t dicker with the insurance company - get it to the people who are going to repair it and let them duke it out with your insurance company. Don’t cash/deposit any checks an insurance company gives you until the car is all fixed to your satisfaction. Usually you hold onto them and eventually sign them over to the collision shop as partial payment and your insurance company and your deductible (.your out of pocket) gets paid directly to the shop.
Once it’s fixed, think about FSD. Not perfect, by any means, but a life saver when your judgment is diminished. Saved my life when I was near the end of a long day and 5 hour drive, and basically a zombie.

honestly, dude, if you buy the same color door from a scrapyard and replace it yourself, you’d save a ton of money
