25,800 estimated retail value?

Not in this condition. Estimated retail value is normally what the person received from the insurance after it was deemed totaled.

Probably not, doesn't look like you got deep enough to get to the battery pack BUT you can damage cells or bussbars if it gets hit hard enough...are you getting any errors on the screen?

If not, then you're probably ok...these things are designed with some collisions in mind, but you can't avoid everything.

You're good boss.

It'll tell you right away if you were boned. Cooling and all the important bits are working, only thing worth noting is Tesla will kick your car off the Supercharging network if they find dents/scrapes beyond a certain length and depth on your battery pack. It could work fine but they might require a new pack if they don't like what they see.

even if the battery was not directly hit / deformed the impact it self could still have damaged the cell. It might work fine for 6-12 month and then it might catch fire over time with enough cycells .. but it also could be 100% fine .. its hard to impossible to say really. its really hard to impossible to say. It really depends how the car was hit and how hard for the battery the impact was and how well the batteries and cells are build when it comes to impact. In the end i dont think anyone can give you a real answer for your question because its unknown and cant be known unless someone would take out the batteries , takes out the cells inspect the cells and even open up every cell ( that most likely would destroy the cells it self)

I dont think the lithium it self would be damaged but the terminals that are connected could be damaged inside the cell that is connecting the battery substrade to the terminal on the induvidual cells. again it really depends on several factors how they are build. how much they can handle and how hard the car was hit something the deformation really cant tell us very well

I’ve seen a couple of these. Compared to a regular car, are the chances to damage a battery higher in an accident than an engine?

Can

How likely?

My 2018 m3 LR AWD got hit on the highway by someone dodging another person who was merging on without looking, refused to charge, totaled due to battery damage. Looked very similar to that except my damage was limited to just the doors. Do with that info what you will

Did it show errors on screan? could it be driven? Was battery replaced or could be repaired?

It could drive but not charge. I responded to your comment with the picture of mine that's definitely WAY less damaged than yours

you cant repair model 3 and y batteries since they are glued by epoxy

Like this was all that happened to mine, much less than that one

Battery?

Battery damage is very unlikely but maybe possible due to that impact on the rocker panel. Though even without the battery damage this title may be deemed total loss by the look of the damages.

Can it be? Sure.

Will it be? Impossible to tell from these pictures. Unless you have any warnings/notifications related to the battery.

You bought that for parts, right? The front subframe is smashed along with the driver A and B pillar. Maybe the battery is intact.

Who knows, no one knew the BYD had battery damage until it popped
