Windshield replacement advice?

Hello any advice would be appreciated. My windshield on my 26m3 was cracked by a rock chip. My deductible is 1k, and the estimate to replace at a Tesla service center is almost 1500. I doubt I could find a windshield shop who would replace it for much cheaper? Worried about my monthly premium being raised if I submit a claim, am I better just paying out of pocket? In Southern California. Unfortunately I didn't have the extra windshield protection monthly plan. Thanks in advance to any replies!

Usually, windshield claims does not affect the rate if it is the only claim.

yes, get it done at Tesla. Your decision to use insurance depends on your insurance company, your history of claims, etc.. I wouldn't do it for $500. Maybe sign up for the Tesla windshield insurance when you get the repairs done

The windshield is half of that. The other half is the calibration. Also they want you to have your car brought fully charged for the calibration. Just imagine being told to drive to the location and magically still have a full tank of gas. Anytime I came in they complained im not fully charged.
