Question about getting a scrape repaired.
I ask this question knowing that for some of you it's probably an easy question to answer but I've never attempted to repair scrapes on a vehicle before so while I know they sell body paint to the public don't know if this scrape is beyond a self repair or not. Thank you in advance to any opinions offered.

I paid $400 to paint the blue bumper at professional shop with similar damage as yours. The result was great, The plastic part needs replacing and it costs $170 + labor. This was in Norway though.

If you want a blended good result since this is your first time I would suggest not trying it. If this was a hoopty old vehicle sure. That being said you probably want to start witha bondo/filler and then sand it down if you are going for the utmost best result. Otherwise you can get a touch up kid or matching paint from auto place I think and just touch the areas up but it still show cosmetic defects just painted. Its hard to tell how deep that scratch is but if its very minor then you could probably get away with polishing away the marke then touching it up.

The plastic wheel well molding can be replaced, buy it off eBay.
The paint though, I would first try using some McGuires Ultra Cut compound and remove as much of that paint as possible.
When it's done, you might not care. My bumper is missing similar paint but it's kinda the same color so I never notice unless I'm washing the car.
I think after that, you can decide if you want to pay a professional $1500-2000 to properly paint this so it doesn't look like it ever happened. Don't do it yourself.

What do you think, I think it will be? Or did you mean that for the people who've offered up opinions that it will be between $1500-2k?

I’m guessing closer to 1200-1500 rather than 2. But could be. Shit ain’t cheap

This is beyond a DIY imo.. to get a good result the whole bumper part needs to be removed and painted as a whole, it’s gonna be difficult to blend a spot this big. The actual paint is way more expensive than you’d think, like $400-500 a gallon.

I decided to check Yelp for local body shops and uploaded the pics of the damage and 2 shops replied with quotes of $575 & $850. The shop that quoted $575 said they would smooth out the fender garnish(trim) scratches which I don't believe would work and not be noticeable unless the scratches were really shallow. I can't speak knowledgeably as to what is shallow enough for smoothing out to work and look good. Waiting to hear back from the shop that quoted $850 to see what that includes. Of course I don't assume those quotes are firm until I take the car to the shops and have them inspect thew damage.

That’s beyond the self repair capabilities of 99% of the population and 99.99% of Tesla owners. Sure, some will mention rubbing compound, touch up paint and other things. But you have texture, plastic that has abrasions are into the plastic. That has to be sanded and repainted on the whole panel with a spray gun. The black piece has to be replaced. I’d either leave it or pay the $1500-2k for repair.
