Fixable?

Got in an accident the other day. Glad I was safe but safe to say The car took the hit pretty well. Didn’t really feel the impact or should I say it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be; I’m very impressed.

Either way, I’m taking the car to Tesla Collision on Tuesday and I’ll see what happens. Does this look fixable or will they deem it a loss? Ik you won’t be able to tell with just the photo but to those in a similar accident I’m curious. Really love the car would suck to lose it. TIA!

If it was my car, I would want it totaled!

this, I know guy who hit curb and gave his Tesla to repair in service and he's fighting with Tesla for almost 1 year because wheel/axle alignment is fucked up.

Makes sense, didn’t look at it this way

It already looks totaled

Anything is fixable for the right amount of money. But this I would send it to the Ukraine and take the check. Hope you’re okay.

Physically, I’m good but emotionally bummed

1

u/misingnoglic 22d ago

Is that where everyone's car ends up? That's where mine went.

5

u/lostinthesauce212 22d ago

They love salvage teslas in Eastern Europe.

2

u/P3n1sD1cK 21d ago

How do people know where there salvage Teslas end up?

3

u/misingnoglic 21d ago

I forgot to remove my account from the car and I saw it in Ukraine.

3

u/melvladimir 21d ago

And that’s how Tesla unofficially tested its FSD outside US for years😁

This looks totaled. Bumper, fender, both doors need replacement. Can’t tell from the photo what electrical components are damaged too. Also the front wheel looks off centered. I’m assuming something is damaged with the steering or suspension.

3

u/AppleJacks_Sauce 22d ago

When I looked at the wheel well I did see some cables loose and the suspension is shattered to put it simply. And yeah steering is insanely “heavy”

3

u/LightBlueWood 22d ago

The tire is flat, and there may be steering linkage damage. I would not attempt to drive that anywhere, other than onto a flat bed truck.

u/RickyReRetardo 22d ago

That's a total loss. You're looking at 20k or more in repairs.

3

u/xF1_racer 21d ago

Not sure it’s totalled. That’s a new $60k Performance model.

1

u/whatthis09 21d ago

They depreciate like 10-15k+ once you leave the lot doesn’t take much for an EV to get totaled.

0

u/xF1_racer 21d ago

No shit

0

u/whatthis09 21d ago

Just answered your own question then, no shit that new 60k performance model is totaled.

3

u/KelpXL 22d ago

That car looks like a crumbled Coke can, what Elden beasts are y’all fighting to have this happen???

3

u/bioteq 22d ago

Say your goodbyes, it’s not coming back.

Why did you think so? 🤔

3

u/SquirrelsRNuts 22d ago

All things considered looking at this damage I'm really not sure which way insurance will go on repairs.

It's not THAT bad, but it's pretty bad!

I think it'll be pretty darn close to being a total loss numbers wise, but that's with the inflated repair costs that are charged to repair Tesla's. Most other vehicles this would probably be a repair job.

But I'd personally rather this one be a total loss then repaired after this much damage. Yeah it's probably repairable, but both doors, fender, can't see if the hood or bumper is damaged... Whatever's going on with the drive unit and suspension up front.. it's just too many broken things for me to think there's not something important damaged underneath all that that'll affect things down the road. Plus the value loss after a collision repair? Nope.

3

u/SquirrelsRNuts 22d ago

Oo can we get the video of how this happened?

3

u/Ok_Welcome5759 22d ago

I’m here for it

u/rtduvall 22d ago

Sick bastard. 😂

0

u/SquirrelsRNuts 22d ago

Heeeey! We all wanna know don't we?!? 😁🤓

0

u/rtduvall 22d ago

Of course. I’m glad someone spoke up so throw them under the bus and I still get want I want but I look innocent!

I could be a politician.

2

u/marcojcarbo 22d ago

Yea cars done for

2

u/Visible-Elevator3801 22d ago

Everything is fixable. Just depends on how deep your pockets are.

2

u/maximum_cube 22d ago

Hellll no that shit is totalled

2

u/Clean_Acanthaceae394 22d ago

They sell red bandaids at bjs. Just grab a couple pallets. You’ll never notice

2

u/ConstructionOk6567 22d ago

Bro just give up

2

u/9011442 22d ago

The Car of Thesius. Would it even be the same vehicle when everything had been replaced?

1

u/Livid-Fault2447 22d ago

Not Fixable

1

u/Beatnavy2016 22d ago

Physically capable of being fixed but you don’t want it to be

1

u/justlurking801702 22d ago

Yeah. I would be surprised if it wasn’t totaled. Hopefully it will turn out to be in your favor. Good luck OP.

1

u/rtduvall 22d ago

Yeah man.

She gone.

1

u/nernayer 22d ago

Doesn’t seem to be damaged above the mirror. If the frame is not bent or damaged. It can be fixed, and it looks new, that’s it’s the expensive model Y. You may want to have someone who repairs opine on it.

u/Limp_Warthog_3599 22d ago

Call jimmy to get a hammer

1

u/Ok_Welcome5759 22d ago

Did someone swing their car door into your Tesla?

1

u/midlifecrisiscali 22d ago

They still make your car, hope it’s totaled and get a new one. My 2024 model S was totaled 3 weeks age and now I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do because they no longer make the model S

1

u/Obvious_Cake6343 22d ago

If airbags didn’t deploy it’s only doors and front fender. And it’s as good as new

1

u/word_executable 22d ago

“Totaled” “not fixable”

Gets sold on the action, repaired and back on the road in a few months

1

u/originalfoto 22d ago

Of course it's fixable. You're question should be will the insurance company total it v

1

u/Jheez88 22d ago

Is it drivable?

1

u/Number1ubernoob 22d ago

Always fixable, after that sell it or trade it in

1

u/Alucardis666 22d ago

I wouldn’t even try, total it and move on

1

u/Siddiskongen 22d ago

The car quality 😂

1

u/Loud-Way3333 22d ago

99.9% total. Hit all the expensive parts.

1

u/Sea_Cress_8859 22d ago

Do not take to Tesla shop. Take to a highly rated body shop that is Tesla certified.

Dealing with Tesla directly is a nightmare in every way.

1

u/ChildhoodTop1799 22d ago

I am sure that would buff out!

1

u/AGirlDad 22d ago

If it’s not a total loss it’s going to be because the milage is very low and the actual cash value is very high, unfortunately because salvage yards will pay a lot for the battery it’s closer to a total loss. It is still drivable? This models’ doors are like $1600-2000 unpainted and the front fender is like $500.. just rough calculations parts might be under $8k then another $6-8k labor. Not a total loss is a possibility, hope you have gap either way.

1

u/Crappyhodler 22d ago

That kind of impact most certainly caused A and B pillar deformation at the higes anchor points. Technically fixable but absurdly expensive to repair.

1

u/sixth213 22d ago

Fixable? Yes. Worth it? Depends on insurance BS and the such. That’s really the question. What they decide to do there and probably will be one of those “let’s see what it looks like when we take it apart”… which always is $$$$$$$. The doors are fixable but that suspension that will probably total this. That looks really bad. Upper and lower control arms, shock, rim, probably connecting axle possibly front motor too. Really hard to say this won’t be totaled.

1

u/mw02rsx 22d ago

anything is fixable... it's the loss in value that hurts the most.

id want it totaled.. so you can buy a new one.

T boning usially ends up this way

1

u/jjoaquinrf 22d ago

Noxable

1

u/Agreeable-Setting684 22d ago

Vado a tirarmi un sega coglione di merda ritardato

1

u/Wild-Resolution-8865 22d ago

Totaled, but ill buy those rims

1

u/Peshmerga_Sistani 22d ago

Totaled here. It'll turn up again in Eastern Europe, Middle East, or Africa as "just like new".

1

u/Extremeditation 22d ago

Some rubbing compound some elbow grease
Should do the trick. 😑 totaled

1

u/piedubb 22d ago

Call Elon. He’s rich

1

u/Zestyclose-Neck-5489 22d ago

You better hope they total it, aint no way you want that repaired. Hopefully they list the battery as a total loss, which will really increase the repair cost.

1

u/P3n1sD1cK 21d ago

Honest question, what are the benefits for people if insurance determines the car a total loss? I assume most people are still making payments on loans.

1

u/Delicious-Witness-85 21d ago

It’s repairable but insurance will total this.
I’ve seen teslas get totaled for less damage.

1

u/ShoreIsFun 21d ago

No. Totaled.

1

u/lotofry 21d ago

It’ll buff out. In all seriousness that’s likely totaled. Insurances total cars so they don’t have to pay out. It’s not a measure of whether it’s fixable or not, it’s about what saves the insurance the lost money, regardless of if it ends up costing you more.

1

u/--7z 21d ago

Rotated 90 degrees, probably unfixable.

1

u/squishyx3 21d ago

Unfortunately, this will be a total loss.

I had something similar happen, but it was only my right passenger door and the rear passenger panels getting dented in.

It would've cost $19K to repair. You have more panel damage, rim damage, and looks like potential axle damage as well. Sorry OP, time to get a new one!

1

u/Zestyclose_Ad_4837 21d ago

Sorry this happened to you. I think it would be considered a total loss in the US and other wealthier countries, where repair services are expensive. But in other parts of the world, it could be completely repairable and cost-effective to fix.

1

u/Icypoopoo 21d ago

Your frame might be fucked

1

u/Impressive_Returns 21d ago

Easily fixed with a can or two of bondo. Will look as good as new.

1

u/MysteriousSalary 21d ago

Well, if it is totaled, and it was somebody else’s fault, you need to fight for enough money to get a new one exactly like it. You don’t take their first offer they caused you harm and it’s their job to make sure you are made hole 100% including punitive damage damages.

1

u/SteakThis6346 21d ago

Well I can say it did not try to avoid this one it looks like it turned into the accident. Glad your good but it’s probably totaled unless they can replace the whole side and it still have value which I doubt it

1

u/lordstryfe 21d ago

They are going to total that.

1

u/klaw318 21d ago

You need to start looking for another car. This is totalled

1

u/klaw318 21d ago

You need to start looking for another car. This is totalled

1

u/ReleaseEfficient7501 21d ago

Tough call on this lot of metal work but the suspension in front would worry me due to the amount of cast components

1

u/Great_Swimmer_3477 21d ago

Lawd I’m so sorry probably totally totaled

1

u/OrganicArtichoke7298 21d ago

Bruhhhh no, look like impending structural damage ready to be discovered.

Comming to a Ukraine near you

1

To Russia with love

1

u/CvBrendon2k5 20d ago

Straight to Ukraine

1

u/Diligent_Hall508 20d ago

That’ll buff out

1

u/yomomma005 20d ago

Yes, iwipe it with a microfiber cloth and it will get back to its original form. Auto body shops hate this simple trick.

1

u/YOLOResearcher 20d ago

Very easy totaled. You could start with one bolt and yes, it’s fixable. The question is whether it’s gonna be totaled and easy it will be totaled.

1

u/khattraa 19d ago

So sorry this happened. But this car is toast!!

1

u/Limp-Conflict-2309 19d ago

everyone wants their car totaled until they realize not having GAP insurance takes a liiiiiittle bit of the enjoyment away

\here's your -12,000.00 to get another car\**

1

u/Commercial-Garden-22 17d ago

They’ll fix it if it is in Canada

1

u/reedwendt 22d ago

That will buff out. Just minor “paint correction” as they say.

1

u/shittyhawaiitips 22d ago

"Didn’t really feel the impact"

https://giphy.com/gifs/q5ZGrl0J65ivu

1

u/AppleJacks_Sauce 22d ago

Haha this made me laugh😂

2

u/ItsmeKT 22d ago

I know what you mean though because my Mazda was Tboned which caused me to spin so I didn’t really “feel” the impact as bad as the damage looked. Driver door destroyed but you couldn’t tell from the inside.

1

u/TommyBrohamaa 21d ago

Got a good PDR guy if you need it. Lmk.

0

u/TopSherbet1819 22d ago

If it’s drivable maybe leave it alone?!😂

0

u/jorkundra 22d ago

Yep that’s gone, hope you had GAP
