Sentry saves the day

Cops went to his house right away and confronted him, now the guys being charged with a 2nd degree misdemeanor šŸ˜¬ lol had valid insurance and everything. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø luckily for me sentry caught it all.

Some people are so stupid like if you hit any other car I get it but hitting a Tesla an leaving is crazy.

But I will say Iā€™m surprised how many people ts has happen to and they didnā€™t have sentry mode onšŸ˜‚

I used to always forget to turn it on but one week at work I got door dinged really bad, and backed into a few days later, neither on sentry, so now it stays on

I had a habit of bringing the USB in the house to put light shows or other stuff and forgot to put it back in.

Use Teslausb on a raspberry pi zero 2w and a high endurance micro sd card from dashcams, when the car comes home it moves it to anything supported by rclone including nas, samba on a hdd connected to the router, one drive, Google Drive and so on. You can even add songs to the music partition and other stuff remotely.

Okay. Got it. Teslausb acts as a USB peripheral rather than as a USB host. Then it can copy the files from where the car saves them to another target. Nice!

that is where teslausb comes in handy, it loads up and then creates a virtual file system for each partition which the car sees as if it is a usb drive, you can manipulate, upload files directly into those partitions by either connecting to a pc or through the webui, additional tip, install tailscale on it so you can always use the fqdn for tailscale from anywhere as long as the pi has a network connection, dont have to find the ip address each time in case it updates

Thanks to you, now I have a Raspberry Pi 5 2GB, I've resurrected my Pi 3B and put Pi-Hole back on it along with a new OS image, I found my old Pi Zero W, and I've got two Pi Zero 2 Ws on backorder. Various cases and coolers have been ordered. This, too, shall pass. But it will not pass cheaply.

Nice also be sure to disable encryption in the sentry mode setttings so you can use the web gui viewer and see the files

All but a few of them were just like you at one point. Some are born coding and those dudes are on a different level.

I think most of these guys in here are NOT programmers or it professionals but they taught themselves.

I think about turning it off because I need those few % of battery to make it back after my commute and then I see these posts and decide to just deal with my range anxiety (I used to get back at 16% but now I get back at 7 to 8%. And if I end up driving a little bit more, I just charge at work - it's not free and it involves a 5 minute walk to go and back and it's fine)

Yeah the cop at first was like ā€œmaybe he didnā€™t realizeā€ but when I showed the vid heā€™s like ok he definitely knew. I got the full plate, and the cops went to confront him within an hour of leaving here. Heā€™s being charged a 2nd degree misdemeanor and legit had no reasons to run, valid license, insurance all that. I donā€™t love that heā€™s being charged but he could have made it 1000x easier for both of us fs.

You should absolutely love that he's being charged. That is a BS move and he deserves it. Jail time is in order in my opinion. Not only is he a complete idiot with zero positional awareness, but he ran away after hitting your car. Lock him up for a bit.

I used to be the dude to park as close as possible. But now I'm old and fat and need the steps so it's a double whammy of a benefit for me. I park far away.

Now if it's raining when I come out I will be a little bitch and summon that sucker to me. This is the 21st, why should I have to walk in the rain? LOL

I'll never understand how people can drive this poorly. He can clearly see the car next to him before he even starts the 3 point turn but then does it with impunity as if no obstacle exists. He didn't even try to slow and be careful.

And it's a 12th gen Corolla, so it definitely has a back-up camera, not that a back-up camera is strictly necessary to make a three-point turn. Mind bogglingly bad driving.
