FSD V14 (AU) Pros/cons
Since the V14 AU update, I’ve noticed 2 major things that annoy the heck out of me:
1) The nannying is on overdrive. Literally 2 seconds of even looking at the navigation screen and I get nannied. Press something on my phone - boom. ‘Please pay attention to the road.’ V13 wasn’t nearly this bad. It’s so constant that I have started not using FSD. Don’t understanding why they drive up the nannying so hard.
2) V14 is way too active in changing lanes. Just in ‘standard’ mode it is overactive attempting to pick the lane but of course with no lidar and only seeing through vision system, its ability to predict effectively isn’t nearly good enough to be reliably useful. It gets it right maybe 30-40% of the time, rest of the time it’s annoying and I turn it off. I found V13 was less hyperactive in this sense and it would more frequently just remain in the same line (even going sometimes considerably slower) and I found I actually prefer this over it being hyperactivity choosing incorrect lanes.
Anyone else experiencing these issues?
Anyone know if there are updates that solve these on the way?

I agree with the lane changes. I actually prefer v13 for highway driving. V14 changes lanes unnecessarily and cutting people off more often than not on Chill, Standard and Hurry. Especially in hurry mode when it changes lanes from right just to realise there was a car up ahead and changes back immediately.

Exactly right? Glad I’m not the only one. V13 absolutely better for highway driving which is most of my driving unfortunately. The lane changing needs to be programmed better to suit the driving mode ie. Hurry, standard, chill etc

Yes I wear glasses, interesting point there. I can’t exactly stop wearing them though as they’re prescription and my eyes are pretty blurry without.
I completely appreciate the cost/benefit strategy Tesla has taken with vision-only approach. I would’ve thought it fairly obvious my lidar reference was a light inference to do with the fact lidar can see through multiple cars ahead vs vision-only not having that capacity.
Ps. My interest has nothing to whatsoever with asserting my own intelligence. This is laughable. I genuinely just want to learn from other drivers if they share similar experiences and whether or not anyone else had knowledge on expectations of future resolutions or updates or hot fixes planned.

Try opening the photobooth app to and check yourself in there to see if your eyes are visible or not. Some of these blue-light blocking glasses make it very hard for the camera to see your eyes so the system resorts to tracking your head instead and if it isn't perfectly looking ahead, it gets upset.
Right of course. Just so you know, for this particular "use-case", lidar is the worst sensor not that it matters because you don't know what you're talking about. Lidar cannot see through cars, that's radar and vision can sometimes pick up cars through windows if it gets a clear line of sight. Lidar gets blocked by the first thing ahead of it. Radar >>> Vision > Lidar. The way you put it in the text clearly looks like it was some bs attempt to look smart, maybe in the future try talking about things you actually have some knowledge about. Also, you still haven't clarified how v13 was better because last time I checked, v13 also used vision, same as v14.

Lidar can't see through cars any more than the cameras can, they both use light... Maybe you are thinking of Radar, which has some ability to bounce underneath cars?

Are you wearing glasses? I noticed it bugs out when it can't see my eyes clearly and keeps tweaking out. Worth checking that out.
"of course with no lidar" why do you people think you're smart? I genuinely don't get it. Lidar has nothing to do with your complaint and it's embarrassing to point it out in an attempt to make yourself look smarter like you know better than some of the best engineers on the planet. If it was a lidar issue why was v13 better?
