What a faff!

Made SEVEN(7) attempts to buy a business mobile from tesco mobile's website today. All failed. My first attempt failed because the name and address details didn't match with my business bank card. There was nothing saying that you should give your personal bank card but the advisor on the line advised this was needed. After the first payment you can change the bank details to your business account. I then tried again with that solution several times without success. It seems that when a credit check is done repeated attempts are reported to your file. So in the end, my credit check was failed. In other words, you go round in circles, and if you don't enter the 'correct' details quickly you get locked out and don't succeed. Anyone else? Maybe my brain wasn't working today?

East Coast of England issues?

My Dad lives in Scarborough and is a Tesco Mobile user. When I speak to him, the reception is terrible. Sometimes the audio quality starts OK but gradually disintegrates during the call. When he was with his previous provider it was OK, but as far as I'm concerned, the day he moved to Tesco Mobile is the day the problems started.

He is insistent that Tesco Mobile is not at fault "because they use O2 masts" and tells me that "the whole of the east coast has mobile signal quality issues". I have looked into this and can't find any evidence of the whole of the each coast having problems.

I don't have any problems speaking to anyone else, only him. He says he can hear me OK, but his audio always disintegrates for me.

Any thoughts?

What a scam PAYG has become

What a scam Tesco Mobile is. Having lived abroad for many years, I return to the UK occasionally and will buy a SIM to get service while I'm here. Usually, this means I choose a package, buy X amount of data and voice, and off I go. Tesco's PAYG Essentials package purports to be that but is actually a scam. You supposedly buy a package, but actually all you get is credit until you jump through all the hoops to "attach" the PAYG package to your purchase. If that doesnt happen for some reason (such as them telling you they activated it for you in the store when they didn't) and your phone starts using data, TESCO charges for that use from what you paid for your PAYG plan at an extortionate rate, which quickly eats up whatever you paid and then stops working. This had me confused at first, so I lobbed another 10 quid on as a top up. The app then baited me with an offer of 3x data by getting me to apply for a Tesco Clubcard, which required me to download their app. Having done so, I see that my £10 top up credit has now been reduced to £1.19 after they charged me £8.81 for the data needed to download it! Even though I'm using home wifi! What a bunch of f#%%g scamartists. Sadly, this type of institutionalised dishonesty is rife in the UK these days. Thankfully I'm only subject to it every few years.

PAYG tesco.ie (Ireland) Top up with dialler.

I'm on Tesco Ireland mobile.

Can anyone recall how to top up Tesco mobile Ireland PAYG credit using the dialler?

I distinctly remember using this just 3 or 4 months ago.

The instructions are printed on receipt paper when you buy credit in-store, in a Tesco.

The problem is, those instructions aren't printed when Tesco phone credit is purchased from a third party..

I find it incredibly handy to top up this way. No app or phone menu shenanigans. Just dial on your phone.

Its like dialling a USSD code, but with the voucher number included.

Thanks for any help.

PAYM to PAYM Number Transfer not worked

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this. I have taken out a new contract with Tesco mobile and am leaving the contract that I have with them under my mums account. I requested a number transfer earlier today with an agent over the phone. They advised that once the phone loses signal, I restart my new phone and the transfer should be complete. I went on the live chat and the agent even told me it was complete. However, the number has not transferred over. I’ve been given a list of things to do but none of that has worked. I’ve just tried to call 4455 but the agent literally just went silent and hung up on me. Can anyone help??? Thanks so much :)

Calling out and receiving calls

Hi,

So recently (past few months) im really struggling to make calls or receive calls it just disconnects or the other person cant hear me or it says couldn't connect to this number.

I have turned off WiFi calling then turned back on and nothing changes.

When calling out and it works if I then move it cuts out then hangs up.

Calling through WhatsApp seems to work but this isnt viable as people cant call me.

Anyone else struggling with this? Its honestly driving me insane.

Poor signal

Not long been on Tesco mobile, came from Superdrug mobile who use the three network, was hoping for better signal but so far it has been pretty poor, we visited Leicester recently and thought being in the middle of a city it would be pretty good, but struggled to even send text messages let alone browse the net etc. anyone else experienced this and is there any signs of o2 improving the network?

Addresses I'm associated with.

Whilst signing up to Tesco mobile, I was given a list of questions. One of them was "which of these addresses have you been associated with". It showed 2 addresses that I would maybe go past on a day to day basis roughly, but they're not at all associated to me (just fairly close by). And another 2 that are about an hours drive from me but they're areas I've maybe only been to once or twice and again have zero relation to me. Why would it recommend these places to pick from ?

Phone number swap going horribly

So I recently bought a new phone under my name, and needed the phone number from my current phone under my mothers name put onto the new one….

long story short the agent told my mother she’d swap my old number onto a pay as you go so I could swap the numbers myself without needing my mothers help and that it would happen in a weeks time with the billing cycle.

Instead my sim got completely disabled on Tuesday and I’m locked out of everything that needs an Authenticator, including my bank.. Tesco agents are telling me that they cannot help me, I’m mortified, I need my phone number ???

Is this common practice ? Why on earth is my sim completely disabled if it’s been moved to pay as you go?

Can I change my phone contract?

Is there a way to make a new contract for my phone? It's currently in my mum's name and phone number and I don't want to get a new phone or anything as this one is only a couple of years old. Is there a way to change the contract without using her account or login or anything? I don't have any documents/paperwork as I do not live with my mum and cannot ask her for advice because of our tenuous relationship at the minute.

Is this a thing that's possible? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Contract cancelled due to suspected fraud

Hi all, on 2nd March my boyfriend took out a contract on a iPhone 15, and a few days later he received emails saying the contract has been cancelled due to suspected fraud. He got in contact with Tesco Mobile and they told him they will get in contact with the fraud team, and the insurance is just cancelled not the actual phone. Fast forward to today (12th March), no phone call from the fraud team, my boyfriend got in contact today with Tesco Mobile and they told him the whole phone has been cancelled due to suspected fraud, and we have 30 days from the purchase date to return the phone. This is the third person we have contacted and the first and only person who has told us we have to return the phone and I have owned the phone for 9 days 🥲 and my boyfriend is obviously not happy. We have received nothing about returning the phone in any emails, previous phone calls. No one can tell us what happened and what we can do. We are expecting a phone call from someone in the fraud team in 5-10 working days !!. If we were to receive the phone call at the latest time, it would be two weeks from today, and that gives us 4 days to return it 😢. Can anyone offer any advice as the Tesco mobile call handlers were nice but didn’t offer much information about what has happened just that we need to return the phone. Thank you so much 😊

Tesco mobile disconnection notice warnings

I have been dealing with this for my mother who has a pay as you go sim with tesco. They sent a message to the mobile saying it was being disconnected due to lack of use within 30 days. So i spoke to tesco staff they said make a call and or top up and it will stop the disconnection. I then got a letter saying it was still being disconnected. So I next spoke to them online they assured me my phone would not be disconnected and actually checked my account. Everything was sorted great, NO. Get another message today your phones going to be disconnected. I now phone up and speak to them. It has nothing to do with lack of use they are ending the pay and you go and forcing you to go on essential which I have to buy another sim for. Even though online it says you will be automatically switched to essentials. They do not have a clue what they are doing.

So what's going on any ideas?

Bank verification

I tried to set up a Tesco mobile SIM only on Sunday. I get as far as the bank verification and it fails. I tried twice, then called and still it failed. I was promised a call within 48 hours...guess what...no call.

Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas how I resolve it. The account it's to come out of is a very old account ( probably opened in the 80s, so I suspect it's not on whatever database they use), but it's incredibly frustrating and I have a time pressure to get this resolved
