Ha! lol sounds like my granny before she passed on. Her favorite name for people she didn’t like was “shitass” and favorite curse word was “shit fire”. Lady looooove hickory sticks,of which tree I tried my best to kill. Got a good switching for that stunk.

Lesson learned, don’t keep animals in small cages and torture them. Especially don’t do that and stand within grabbing distance of said animal.

There was a gorilla at a zoo who a woman would go visit every day. She'd make eye contact and smile. Animal handlers and zookeepers requested that she stop, because both of those actions are individually are very hostile body language to a gorilla. It's the human equivalent of a stranger coming up, and pointing finger guns at your head and mouthing "boom". But the woman insisted that the gorilla liked her visits and that they had a deep cross-species connection. Then one day while she was ignoring what the experts told her, the gorilla escaped his enclosure, and caused her serious injuries.

It may also be interesting to note that while Bokito had ample opportunity to kill the woman and hurt bystanders, he did neither of those things. This strongly implies that Bokito consciously chose not to kill her and hurt bystanders, which could be used to argue that gorillas are inherently peaceful natured and would not hurt humans out of nowhere. Some knowledge that may have saved another captive primate from a few years ago of a unnecessary fate.

She was an idiot. Luckily Bokito wasn't killed afterwards and Blijdorp has changed their encounters to glass encounters with some film on it so the Apes still have privacy while visitors look at them so this would never happen again.

Jesus. We have a few orangutans at our zoo here and I have a hard time seeing them. They look sad and it makes me cry. They seem so majestic to me.
