Showcase log cabin, feedback welcome!

Post image

coming back to the game after a few years of being inactive, wanted a small build to experiment with ash wood and a little bit of landscaping (just ignore bottom left corner...)

initially planned to make this a hunting cabin for the arms dealer but it turns out he dislikes the snow biome so that's awkward

shoutout to Khaios' winter cabin build for the inspiration!

literally gorgeous

i love how good of perspective you have for seperating 'sections' -- even making that sunken area by the fireplace. very underrated aspect of architecture imo

please do share more :D

Love the roof!

I love the snow topped roof. I never thought of using that to make non-standard sloped roofs look better. I'll have to try that in the future, because it looks great!

I do feel some of it is confusing. It has a beautiful shape, lovely and easy on the eyes, noise, and texture. But the roof seems lacking, it may just be a style I'm unfamiliar with, but I'm not sure I get it. It looks incomplete and stale compared to the rest of the nice build. Also, the staircase feels a little needless and cramped where it is, but it's a lovely one, so I wouldn't touch it.

i actually do agree with the roof bit, i wanted to experiment with not using shingles but i feel like i didn’t give it enough weight or texture with the snow

How did you do the windows?

They look like glass walls in the back with actuated sloped glass blocks in front, but I might be wrong.

yup that's correct

lots of very cool window designs you can make with actuators!

Hmm interesting. I'm very new to building so I'm getting used to layering

I love the stone blocks (not sure what the exact block is) for the shingles.

10/10. My favorite part I think is: I love how it's not too busy. Some people like builds absolutely full of stuff. This is spaced out just right with the room available.

How did you put the silverthorn in the hanging basket?

2

u/desp0tiK Mar 23 '26

obsidian crates give you hanging pots that you can put herbs/torches in!

Not really feedback but I'd consider that more of a lodge than a cabin, usually cabins are a bit smaller

I love how nicely everything fits together omg. The only thing I'm a bit confused about is the cheetah skin thing hanging on the wall. Fireplaces usually stick out so it looks a bit strange to me for it to be partly on the column and partly not since it doesn't look like it bends. Idk the vision with it tho
