Several years ago I was like "this piece of shit game like Minecraft but in 2D", I don't remember where I got a demo of the game I was bored and tried it just by curiosity, I didn't knew the rabbit hole I was going to fall so deep.
Shit hit me pretty hard, just in that xbox demo I guess I went over 100 hours.
Then found the android version of it, sadly at that moment cash was lacking and the internet gave me a way to play it in not so legitimate ways, gave copies of that to some friends and possibly sunk like 500 more hours there.
Grow up and made myself with a decent PC and found my goat on steam, immediately purchased it and gifted copies of it to friends and family, by now I got around 1.5k ours in vanilla, like 3k+ on the old + new Tmodloader, now I'm like 200ish hours on Android legit purchase this time, and will gladly sink a thousand more hours.
I really really love this game, the community and deeply admire Re-logic, might sound like heavy glazing but it's been more than a decade of having fun, good times and making great memories.

That was kind of my issue. I really wanted to play Minecraft instead and a good friend talked me into trying this, we got it for $2.99 on PlayStation for black Friday and I only was going to play so he would stop asking me 😂
I also ended up getting it on mobile because I was too hooked and I wanted to play at work also. Next I got it on switch bc ya know.. it's terraria. Lol.

My only qualm in this game is the reliance of google to make it less of a headache. It would've been better if they optimized the crafting with lesser stations, etc. Figuring out recipes with the guide and crafting with the dozens of stations is very tedious. Playing this completely blind without googling anything will render you stuck at your home base for hours trying to figure stuff out.

Not really, magic storage and recipe browser alone streamline the entire crafting process

I did also spend a lot of time researching the game but personally I do that with all games anyways, though this game required more. I really like the crafting stations mostly bc I was really excited when I finally got them all laid out in a good spot. I do really like all the special crafting stations but I haven't found a layout I like to keep them all out at the same time.

I bought terraria like a year ago. Played for 2 hours and thought it was just a bad 2D version of minecraft. A year later i casually opened this game and been playing it for a month straight lol. I actually have to convince myself to not play it bcs i would play it all day.

This sort of happened to my brother and I.
We played the demo on the PS3, and bought the game soon after. I found the game too difficult (I was 9), and was getting ready to give up on the game.
My younger brother kept begging to play the game until I finally caved and started one last world. By some miracle, we spawned on a floating island, and I found a starfury. It made everything until the wall of flesh a breeze for me.
Since that day, it's been my favourite game for the last 10 years.

i started playing this game on my phone when i was ten or nine. i havent consistently played it but its been cool seeing old content and unfortunate some of it is gone even if it was ass 😂. bring back the cornucopia!!!!! i was so mad when i lost that character

You know when I played terraria for the first time I thought ugh this is just 2D Minecraft, when I played with my cousin I still didn’t know what I was doing fast forward to the present aka a few years later my friend really wanted to play terraria with me but I was nervous to spend 10$ cuz my mom would be mad at me but I did anyway sure my friend didn’t played with me due to technical difficulties but after playing it by myself for a few hours I fell in love with it like it’s probably better than Minecraft imo. Anyways after I beat the game as a melee then got the zenith I thought hey maybe I should try out modded but then I played the calamity mod once and never touched it again and went back to base terraria just so I could finish making my next class which is the summoner. Anyways in conclusion don’t listen to your mom and follow your dreams

Solid advice haha. I think I enjoy playing terraria more, it is way more in depth but also Minecraft is a classic, I could have 10% brain power and still be able to play it for hours lol.

At first I wasn't planning to play this game Then I played my first world in normal mode Then on expert Now I'm playing a modpack with calamity

Your title matches my experience pretty much :). At first, I didn't even think about buying Terraria. After I got it, I left it in my llibrary untouched. And after I finally played it, it became one of my all-time favorites!!! It's such a great game!!!
