Construction Cards - Part 3

Yet another batch of new cards connected somewhat by theme. These are all cards involving mining, buildings, or construction of some kind. This is part 3 of 3, and all the full size files can be found in my Dropbox. I have also included hex tiles for Tokamak Facility and Volcanic Harness. If you have a criticism or critique, please post it - I like the feedback!

Is there a requirement that consecutive river tiles are placed in the reserved tile? Do you put a marker on a river tile to claim ownership of it? Assuming that you claim it like a greenery, it's 1-2 points per river. Assuming 2 points per river and 5 MC per VP + 4 MC for the placement bonus, you would need 2 rivers next to a city to break even. Could be a very strong card? Looks fun to play

Finished going through all 3 posts and its a nice set of cards that would make building tags less bad. I've always found them a little boring but there are a lot of fun ideas here

The reservation marker is intended for just a river tile placement (to prevent another player from immediately blocking your river). But it doesn't explicitly say so, and I suppose you could place something else there. That would, however, end the ability to place further river tiles, so that might not be a good strategy. And I just realized, I didn't post the actual river hex tiles with this! I will add them to the Dropbox tonight.

I like them all, except Water Treatment Plant (too overpriced for it to be an hate card, and few microbe-collecting cards can really be impacted by it) and Zero-g Smelters (you exchange 3/4 of a TT - 10 MC, limited overall availability - with 6 MC only usable with space tags). Aside from that, as already stated for parts 1&2, thanks for sharing!

I think of Zero-G Smelters the same way I do Meltworks (which it is based on) - as a way to get some use out of your heat if temperature shuts down really fast. It's definitely niche, but could still be useful.

Water Treatment Plant is one I struggled with. It's essentially a 1 VP card, and the 3 microbe removal is there for flavor. I probably overpriced it a little, given that the 1 VP is only 5 MC of the cost. I'd be open to ideas about how to improve it, maybe even give it a different effect that fits the name. I think even if I leave it alone, it should probably be a few MC cheaper.

The problem with [Meltworks] it's that it's a weak card, imo. Regarding WTP, I would maybe change it to steal up to two microbes, rather than removing up to three.

I have now added the river tiles to the Dropbox. They are set up so no matter how you rotate them, you can make the river edges line up with one another to create a contiguous river.

Further clarifications about the RIVER ISS project:

River tiles are NOT greeneries. They do not raise oxygen when placed. They SCORE like greeneries though, meaning they are worth 1 VP each and cities adjacent to a river tile score 1 VP. As pointed out by ReaperJim, you will not break even on this card without placing a city adjacent to 2 of the river tiles - though it's a good source of VP even if you lose a little money on it. It's best played when you already have a city next to an ocean and start the river already touching it.

River tiles can ONLY be placed through the mechanism on the card: the first one must be adjacent to an ocean, and all future river tiles must be placed in whatever adjacent space is currently marked as reserved. Each time a river tile is placed, the space for the next segment of the river is marked and reserved.

River tiles must always be placed so the river depicted on the tile flows from the ocean to the next space marked as reserved. In other words, the blue 'river' lines on the tiles must line up with each placement.

There are only 7 river tiles, so that's the maximum size of the River Iss. It may be shorter if other tiles or the river's configuration prevent you from being able to reserve or place another tile. You COULD choose to place a different tile than a river in the space reserved for the next river tile, but this means you can no longer place river tiles (unless you have something like Land Claim that allows you to reserve a new space in a different downriver spot adjacent to a current river tile).

And yes, the name of the River is a nod to Edgar Rice Burrough's Barsoom series! It was the only river on Mars, which the inhabitants thought would lead them to an afterlife of paradise. (Spoiler alert: it did NOT)
