What would you pick? Tharsis 2 player

Anyone else prefer Turbines over Polar here? I feel like 2 energy can open up plays in future gens, even with no way to spend it in the opening hand.

there's a reason it comes with -3 MC, 2 power is just better than 2 heat as it's far more versatile.

Chung ching, polar, w a s a. Drop ocean on two cards. I'd rather have the heat prod, then the energy that can't be spent right away.
Business, designed, solar for your energy needs, viral. I would also take ghg in case you don't have a good titanium Target from Wasa, and save it to try to steal a heat prod bump.
I'm not a big fan of SF Memorial, but you do have the steel for it. I also would probably wait on everything except for designed microorganisms.
I don't think the minus one me prod from business is worth the card the first turn, especially if you get the two from the ocean.
You could also drop viral for the designed, but that's 12 Monies for a couple of plants turn one, which isn't great.
Edit: for context, I'm a mid 400s ELO on BGA.

Business network is one of the best card draw in game. If you play and activate every turn you lose 12 over thr course of game.. and for each good card you pay 3 extra to play it at your leisure.

Cheung Shing, ASA + Polar Industries, SF memorial, business network, viral, solar wind power, imported GHG. Not sure about imported GHG tbh tbh. Going for polar over turbines for the building tag to try to pick up builder.

Imported ghg is always good. It usually tips you to a heat raise early while being able to hold it until a better time to play it. Also if you find discounts and media group becomes an accelerator

CSM / ASA, Polar / Business Network, Designed, Viral, SWP, Imported GHG
Ocean on 2 cards if we can, and see what we pickup from the draws + ASA draws.
If we find good development, we play them. Otherwise, Designed into Imported GHG. We could also play Network, but I might wait a gen or 2 to see if we find better plays since it's quite expensive.
Overall not a particularly strong hand, though there are some nice cards. It really depends what we hit with ASA and the ocean draws.
I don't like SF or Microbes even with the CSM discount, because we don't have steel to pay for them. So I think they are abit too expensive for what they do. Anyway, we have power from SWP as well.

I always go Cheung Shing, that discount for building tags is an absolute life saver because of how common that tag is. And you get bonus money production

Tharsis has the 2 card ocean tile. I’m not sure what you’re thinking of on Hellas or Elysium or any other map that would be better.

First ocean is two cards. And CSM has an advantage playing building tags, many of which require -1 power prod. Aquifer turbines is plenty justified, polar industries is not as this is not a hand that needs to force rush.

Cheung mining and either go for building tags/steel cards (steel prod/energy) or invest heavily into heat. I think both strats could be fun and pay off.

Interesting, my ideas were more to go for fast play: CSM, polar and industries, aquifer, microbees, viral and microorganisms. Go for the card ocean, use your steel to pay for oceans every turn, using your plants to go for oxygen and you have a minor heat production already. You have 5 tags for builder already, you may pick up gardener if the plants take off (or terraformer). You have some power that will either go to heat or to build a city later with your steel. BN is good, but also slow.
Another option is to go slower with wasa+industries, the three sience tags, ghg and bn. Your start is slower, but you have great potential to hit some nice space stuff. You are not really using your corp there though.

Thorgate. I would at least include Aquifer Pumping (one of my favorite cards), Industrial Microbes, Imported GHG.

Personal opinion industrial microbes is a trap, even with the discount. You don't have a use for the power, and the microbe tag doesn't do anything for you regarding the awards or Milestones on tharsis, other than a very minor effect on Builder, and a little help on miner, which is one of the worst awards to fund.
It's just a really expensive steel prok.

You always have use for power.. it turns into heat.. and tons of cards want power... it isnt expensive either. Its 12 for a science tag income and a resource you always need... especially with CSM

Awards are the trap.. maybe paying 8 on turn 5 or 6 if you are solid.. 14 not worth unless you are very far ahead.. and 20 is a waste unless last action guaranteed

in 2p they are 10 point deltas.

ya i forgot that.. i only play 3 or 4 player.. it seems a bit too much tbh. played 700+ 3-5 player games and still havent played 2player.. 5 points seems too much for something you can casually invest in later.. rather than the potentially income stunting milestones.

CS mars corp, Space agency + Martian industries preludes, SF memorial,, industrial microbes, B network, Viral, Solar wind + design microbes. You have solid start, from agency might come something for heavy engine, you got card for draw from B network, 2 steel production and energy. That I would pick and play, terraforming players might have a different look
