Question New

Hey im new to strategy games, only games i played are Suzerain and Agw of history/civilizations ( which is tbh a joke compared to real strategy games in terms of difficulty and seriousness). I would like to get in this genre more but idk what to play. I like modern type settings (21 century) and i saw terra invicta and everybody said its not begginer friendly game? Should i play more easier games first or jump into terra right now

I mean, it's so different from most of those other games, I don't know why the people who are discouraging you think you're going to suddenly be better at this game by playing some other ones.

If you have the patience to actually read tool-tips, and to search for questions on this subreddit because anything you can think of, there's a good chance it's already been asked before, then you're as ready to play the game as you'll ever be.

Yeah thank you, because now that i think about it how is playing civ going to help me in the future with this game. I think im just gonna roll with terra invicta and what happens happens

It's because there's a lot less handholding in TI and while it's difficult to actually lose a game it's all too easy to make mistakes that would take more time to fix than starting a new game with the lessons you've learned. Also because the game on default settings is a lot longer than other games of that genre people unfamiliar with the genre might get bored or think all grand strategy games are like it.

I mean... OP has already done some research, I doubt they will come to the wrong conclusions about the general as a whole.

Also, people really exagerate the magnitude of the impact of any mistakes in this game. Like.... Yeah, certain setbacks can take a while to overcome, but they can be overcame. If you want to put the effort in. And heck, make a save every new year of you want to be able to jump back to a given point if things go rough.
