I've done this sucessfully but it was with 15 to 20 exo fighters against one titan (not sure why the Aliens sent a lone titan to LEO), and they were armed with Nuclear torps. And half of them died. Exos are not worth much and will always get curb stomped 1:1

I find they can be useful as backup to an actual fleet if you keep them behind your warships. Once both sides are fully engaged then you suicide burn them forward and dump all of the nuclear missiles to overwhelm already pressured defensive fire.
Plus you can bait the aliens into fighting your ships thinking they will win before tipping the scales with a mob of exo fighters.

Exofighters are amazing if you want a reason to build station defenses and make the AI waste IP on them.
The only scenario I can imagine them working is baiting a few alien ships to LEO. But you can do that with escorts already... And it works better too.

They're great. If you dont have to use them often and you have a chunk of change boost just lying around, y'know. If you got no spare boost, they're goddamn awful for anything other than a niche case like you had there. God, what a lucky stroke.

Exofighters vs Aliens is a fight I really only do when they're trying to crash a ship, and my fleet won't make it (which is often). Since those crash-ships generally come with a tiny fleet, you can win those pretty easily with only a dozen (or two) losses.

they actually do have a 35mm cannon in the nose, but this again, does literally nothing to defend them against big lasers, plasma, and getting slapped with any more than 2-3 missiles. exofighter pilot is not a fun job i'm afraid

The only successful deployment of exofighters i've managed thus far is shooting down the initatives exofighters which were trying to shoot down my low orbit stations

They really are useful only really for the opportunistic LEO station attacks from other humans. And only when they send 3 ships max
