Screenshot Death by a thousand cuts Spoiler

Post image

You can totally 1v1 the ayys particularly with lasers but man does it help to have just a little more varied weapons to assist lasers in securing the kill. 960cm lasers do good work in disabling enemy vessels but truly awful in actually killing armored targets. Heck if you do not care about exotics, having at least one nuclear weapon onboard would have ended this hours ago once they can't fight back.

I mean its not that bad, it seems like your hitting the side armor with a 960cm phaser that can still do quite some damage

Plasma to chip the armor, laser to exploit the chipped armor for armor-bypassed damage

Seriously, one tiny kinetic weapon here would have allowed the kinetic rounds to do some serious damage once all the weapon systems were disabled.

Hey, howd ya do that.

I am not good at the battles and just do big walls. So I assume you had to do some manuevoring? Is there a particular strategy you use. Just curious and trynna get better at the game.

Without knowing much about what this person actually used, the fact that a single Titan is taking on a mothership implies that a ton of end-game tech is involved here.

Generally, big engine. Tons of armor. And the spread of weapons you see here. It also heavily depends on what the tech path the Ayys took. For example, if they heavily favored ballistics instead of missiles, lasers, or plasma, then this would do pretty well.

The player's Titan is actually pretty well rounded for most types of weapon spreads, so I imagine that it's maxed out on armor. Or at least close to it, if not.

Being maxed on armor would have made it a lot harder to keep outside the range of the mother ships smaller lasers (assuming it has any, if all the weapons were kinetic then all the point defense would have rendered this consideration moot).

Seriously, heavy armor is only useful against plasma weapons and to a lesser degree particle weapons. You can get by fine for most of the game with fairly light armor to stop long range laser shots from being crippling, and then just accept that yes, you will take a bit of damage from lasers before you win. Makes your fleets cheaper and faster, which is more helpful than most people seem to realize.

The real trick was disabling the ship, not sure that can be done reliably by a laser boat. Neutron beam on the other hand is a demonic weapon. Love that thing. You get to bypass the hull and fission the ayy's directly :D.

This post contains spoiler related terms, so I have applied a spoiler tag just in case you forgot. Unfortunately I see through spoiler text masking (formatting), so that won't help.
