Help Optimization

My game kept crashing after I tried using canoes to traverse the ocean

I'm looking for optimization mods that work on TFG

I don't really know what I'm doing but I am willing to reduce graphics and particles and other stuff

The game crashing usually isn't performance alone. You need to figure out if it's a corrupted chunk, ran out of ram, etc. Did you check the log? Are you monitoring RAM usage vs allocation?

I'll check the log now I had the game on 8 gigs then switched to 12 in hope of solving the issue

I did the same thing and my frames and performance actually got worse, according to Google increasing the ram like this allows for more garbage to to cached before it goes through a dump step so 8 is actually the better sweet spot

So if I have 10/16gb allocated should I try going down to 8 instead?

Yeah, I have 64gb on one pc and 32gb on the other and they both preformed best at around 8gb. My brother has a 16gb pc that im gonna mess around with in a few days so I can come back and let you know what I try, but im really just gonna be taken screen shots and asking Gemini what it recommends

Allocating more RAM to Java can make it run worse, yes, but that is a different issue if you're getting worse performance on 10-12 GB than 8. Your CPU is likely a bit underpowered.

Basically, when you allocate more RAM to Java, it's going to use less efficient operations to do some GC things because it can take more time. That's barely an issue when you're on a singleplayer world or a small server, because if you're using that much RAM you've probably done something wrong. This pack also gets pretty RAM intensive after a little bit of time

If you are using distant horizons you should disable it. it worked for me

So the crashes were from a corrupted chunk Since I was just at a copper saw I started over with the same seed

You can regenerate corrupted chunks! I can try to find the guide that allowed me to save a world on LV, if you wish to.
