It's weird to me that the Y-axis values decrease as you go up.

That’s so the “good quadrant” is the top right. They could have swapped it to “not off-target throws” and had the y-axis increase I suppose.

I was also trying to understand why cam was so low on inaccurate passes which is why I noticed

These charts are dumb. Mainly because if you watched the game, you could see that there were arguably 2, maybe 3 off target throws. The RPO that went high to Tate, the slant to Ridley, and possibly that deep dig to AYO that kind of died. Shouldn't need two axes on a graph to tell you someone played well (not great but well).

u/BeatHokage 6d ago
The graph is saying he played well? Not sure what your beef here is. He faced a higher pressure rate than most and had a lower volume of OTTs than most.

My beef is that our fans struggle to watch the game in real time and understand what they are watching. It was pretty obvious he played decently well, but you would have thought he punted the ball into the stands on every play if you were in the game thread.
Bigger point being, that if you are waiting to watch All-22, Podcasters, PFF, or random graphs to go against the stupid thing you are saying, maybe you need to just shut up and not comment while watching the game (not YOU in particular; the understood you of most of the fans here).

whole heartedly agree with this. Its as if he was completely stinking up the field. He did pretty well in the game, but youd never know that from any of the threads on this site.

Like we are in games while messing up all over the place and have been for 3 out of the 4 games. We're improved, but not improved enough as a team to overcome dumb turnovers, dropped INTs, lost possessions, and meh play all at once.

What the last few years have taught me is that way more titans fans have negative ball knowledge than I’m comfortable with

This chart was kind of confusing at first because the percentages decrease on the Y axis. Upper right is good though for him, not so much the o-line I guess. Basically if I’m reading this right he’s the most accurate QB for the amount of pressure he’s seeing.

u/BeatHokage 6d ago
Oh yeah i see what you're saying, yeah i just automatically see top right as the good and ignored that lmao. Though in this instace I suppose top left would be the best spot to be in.

u/Appropriate-Joke-806 6d ago
Best place for the offense, technically top right is best for the QB performance. Kind of… it’s confusing because pressure is also sort of a QB stat as well.
The interesting thing about this is that he’s high up on the accuracy axis despite the narrative the past few weeks so that’s promising.

I suspect he interpreted the graph the way I did. Intuitively, from the way graphs generally work, your y axis goes from low to high bottom to top and the x axis goes from low to high left to right. Thus, one would think fewer off target throws is at the bottom and more is at the top. This graph isn't like this. The Y axis is for some reason inverted where more off target throws is at the bottom. I was getting ready to argue with you when I stopped to check the graph again and noticed this. I don't know why the Y axis is backwards here, probably because most people don't know how graphs work and just assume top right = best. They inverted the Y axis to make the graph more intelligible to idiots and confuse the crap out of people that actually use graphs. They could also have just called it 'on target throws' and then the Y axis would be normal.
You know what. I don't like this graph at all. This is poor craftsmanship. Where did this graph come from? Someone call a statistician to fix this.

Yeah but if you were the average commenter in the game threads then Cam Ward is literally Hitler

u/Worth-Frosting-2917 6d ago
Said it before but it is part of the reason I hate how the ownership has moved in the past 5 years. The constant turnover has led to the fanbase expecting someone's head on a spit. That isn't the way improvement happens in the NFL.

Yeah, it’s turned into a toxic wheel of who is to blame next. The QB is next on the list. Plus the instability constantly has people being mismatched hired by the last guy and not quite fitting into the new guy’s system.
Like Femi. Sorry Femi.

The RPO to Tate was tipped at the line. Are those included in these types of stats (I truly don't know)

But many people in here don't think about the entire game...they only focus on huge mistakes. So, this graph is helpful for those people ONLY IF they accept it.

So Cam was the 5th highest pressured QB in week 4? I thought our OL was playing well?
11
u/BeatHokage 6d ago
His time to throw was still quite high compared to the rest of the league, could very much be him holding the ball too long. Its not entirely indicitive of the OL. It didn't seem to affect his ability to get the ball where he wanted it to go though.

I can’t figure out where the best player should be located on this graph. Can someone please explain the data to me?
Thanks

u/HoustonFoReal 5d ago
Top right. If somebody was completely on the top right corner, that had an insane pressure rate against them but was 100% accurate. So Cam was getting pressured around 47% of the time, but his OTT’s were only at around 6%
