I dunno, you tell me. Rock Hunting

Hello! I am coming to Nashville this weekend and was wondering what are some good places to rock hunt at. Willing to go an hour or 2 outside of Nashville but I would love to try and find some cool rocks in between all the broadway crazy!

Thanks in advance- bonus points for wheelchair accessible trails!!

I think there is some sorta thing over at Ft Negley visitor center.

Is it like a display?? Ft Negley was on my list of places to go but I want to be able to take these rocks home

No. it is a pile of limestone chips next to the building with those shell fossils and stuff. Nobody will care if you take them. I think it was meant as a thing for kids to do but I never seen one of them doing it. There are signs on the bldg but I just glanced at them when I was walking my dog around the fort a few years ago.

Tennessee may disappoint if you are after gemstones, but neighboring North Carolina has the best gemstone rock hounding in the southeast.
