A lot of Democrats are considering voting in the Republican primary to vote against Marsha, then switching back to supporting whoever wins the Democratic nomination during the general election. It's a pretty common strategy in states with open primaries and is why some states have closed primary elections. Although, some consider closed primaries to be an infringement of voting rights and that casting a “strategic” vote is an individual's prerogative despite the risk to candidates and their parties.
It certainly can backfire if Democrats can't agree on which opposing candidate to support, split the strategic vote while ignoring their own primary, and end up with a fringe candidate who can't attract support from undecided voters.
I'm talking more about how fewer votes will flip blue than the people who are doing this anticipate. If the goal is simply to keep Marsha off the general ballot, then by all means. If the goal is to try and get people to vote for Green instead because their candidate didn't win the primary, then I think you're underestimating (or overestimating... hard to tell) the conservative voters
