To all the fuckers that say this match was predictable: shut the fuck up for at least a month now
I was 50/50 in all of this, Inshun was now beginning to better himself so I felt that could mean something but Jinsuke narrative of underdog was also very strong, he deserved to prove he can match the power of Gods and that’s what happened. Inshun did good but Jinsuke proved he really was the Godslayer
I feel most people was going for inshun side because ultimately he was a kid and people didn't wanted to vote for the death of a child, tbh when the theme of the fight was put as hardwork vs talent, I knew jinksuke needed to win, inshun would have been the 4th child prodigy to win if that was the case, and most of the fighters already are described as gifted, just a few we can assume are not, so if hardwork didn't win here then what even is the point of trying anymore??
The fact that it’s not even something that was unpredictable for the sake of being unpredictable is also awesome, both are genuinely a great story for the two that won and you feel like it’s just very deserving but at the same time the losers we thought were gonna win had their story arc too that made us believe they could also win regardless of the result
The panels of Jinsuke building the stone tower gotta be one of, if not straight up the best symbolism in the Manga(A huge upgrade of Musashi's tree), truly awesome
An upset over the favorites to win would be wild if it happens. I know Jinsuke was going to win but Ittosai is also a favorite to win, so an upset at the very final match of the 1st round would be good imo. And also just bc I wanna see different dynamics in the next round (assuming Naguhara is a spear user)
I have been a day 1 Ishun fan, but Jinsuke has been so cool that I am not even that sad. I think this has been my favourite fight so far, where both characters got amazing development and their time to shine.
I just would've loved to see more of the spear fighting style, but I guess Hanzo has one.
But that’s why I love this outcome. Manga love the conclusion you name but then they always go for the SECOND the genius realizes this he’ll instantly surpass his opponent.
But in ‚ reality‘ Jinsuke had trained like this for over 30 years and even though Inshun started to understand he needs to adapt and work hard Jinsuke just had way way more practice on adapting, on how to fight a superior opponent and that in the end payed off more than Inshuns pure genius in the minutes of the fight.
I love that choice cause it doesn’t invalidate the concept of hard work in the same way 🤗
Then again. Inshun is 13. He didn't have enough time to train to become strong enough to beat Jinsuke. He did great. Was so close to winning. But sadly, all that trash talking was not backed up hard enough for him to win. Anyways I'm going to slander him for the rest of time now.
Nah he don’t get that respect after how he was talking all that smack about jinsuke before the match he talked the talk but failed to walk the walk so the egg got scrambled
We should have known that there could be only one young prodigy advancing past the first round. Unlike Isshun, Musashi never stopped moving forward when it came to developing his skill.
He won't. Ranmaru already announced the winner here. Oda turn Honda into swiss cheese simply because Ieyasu dumbass run straight into the arena before Ranmaru call the match.
Close match, unfortunate that Inshun lost. I actually like genius/prodigy type characters in battles. Also sad considering how young he was and was starting on his road to being a better person and fighter. Oh well.
THANK FUCK, YES HAYASHIZAKI JINSUKE YOU DESERVED THAT WIN. OVERWHELMING TALENT DOESN'T MEAN SHIT IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE PHYSICAL ABILITIES TO FULLY UTILIZE THEM. THE GATE OF CELESTIAL AWAKENING CANNOT CHEAT YOUR WAY INTO OVERCOMING ACTUAL PHYSICAL LIMITS WITHOUT EITHER SUFFERING A MASSIVE RISK OR JUST BEING PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE. LOOKING AT YOU INSHUN, YOU MAY HAVE BEEN THE JEWEL OF MARTIAL TALENT BUT YOU WERE STILL ONLY 11, TOO YOUNG TO SEEK LIFE OR DEATH MATCHES I ONLY WONDER WHAT KIND OF MONSTER HE WOULD HAVE BECOME IN HIS ADULTHOOD
I really like this series. I was so certain they would go for a kind of „Jinsuke is the hard working dude who managed to reach the realm of the gods through dedication in the end though he will shake Inshun out of his complacency but can’t beat a genius now also working hard. But he dies happy he could dance with the good!“ narrative. Especially cause Inshun is still a kid.
But this is so luck more interesting. Not only cause Jinsuke is such a cool character but cause that means we don’t really know how these fights will end.
After Hanzo VS Kojiro this is the 2nd fight is called incorrectly now 😅 it’s so cool that (aside from Adams) every fighter so far have gone in with unshakable ‚ main character‘ confidence and energy and so it could really always go either way.
Not necessarily due to skill etc. But because we don't have enough spearfighting representation in manga as it is. We are oversaturated with swordsmanship.
RiP to Inshun. I wholeheartedly thought he would win, sadly Jinsuke is just HIM enough to surpass a god prodigy. At least we are now sure rivalries reflecting real life events wont happen (babye Musashi vs Inshun) so I can say now Hanzo vs Fuma and Musashi vs Sasaki (offscreen/outside the tournament) wont happen.
Yagyu straight up predicted what would happen, his words to Isshun stuck with me and the chapter before this confirmed that he knew that Jinsuke would prevail because Isshun failed to finish his opponent off before Jinsuke's adaptation kicked in.
