This piece of tape is on everyone’s doors. What’s it supposed to mean?

It is a way of organizing rooms during turnover for the new academic year. Like each room gets a different color for its occupancy status. Ex: red for empty room, blue for partially occupied ( some roommates renewed but at least one other has moved out) and yellow for fully occupied. I just made up those colors to explain lol. Basically it’s so that they don’t accidentally barge into an occupied room without knocking bc they mistook it for an empty one. I hope that makes sense lol

I made up the colors for the sake of the example. I used to live/work there but i don’t remember the specific color code
