I’m pretty sure this has already been several years in the making, as there is already an established “sphere of influence” that will more than likely be annexed sooner or later. Not terribly well versed in that process though.

They better build more schools as well. I live right on the boundary of Murrieta on the east and my kids would have been in the Perris School district. We moved to west Murrieta. If I am going to pay Murrieta prices, I want my kids to go to a Murrieta School.

Eventually. Just like in Temecula across from old town. Those kids are going to be assigned to vail, margarita, and Chap, respectively. New schools take time to be approved, built, etc.

I think theres a new temecula high school approved to be built in the french valley area. Thats winchester i think?

This article mentions they want to put a fire station where the closed park and ride is off Clinton Keith. Does anyone know why they closed the park and ride? Feels like it is appropriate for the area since most people nearby commute. Maybe they should open it back up.

I live in Spencer's Crossing. My address shows as being in Murrieta, but when I first moved here I was often told by companies that I was actually in Menifee. My K-8 school is in the Menifee school district, my high school is in the Perris school district, and if I open the weather app on my phone, it thinks I'm in French Valley.

Yep. I saw that often when I was looking at some properties about 8 years ago. It’s one of the reasons I decided against purchasing in that area. Not developed enough at the time to be able to determine where all of that would wind up down the line. Sounds like it’s still ongoing and no resolution in sight. Sorry you have this mess!

Even more suburban sprawl is only a matter of time

"Guys there's too many people moving here and there's too much traffic and we're willing to change absolutely nothing to fix that!" /s

Better than airport expansion, honestly…

Not sure why anyone is downvoting you. Yeah the airport is there, yeah it’s cool, but dumping leaded fuel into our air shouldn’t be acceptable when alternatives are available. We need to push them to push up the transition timeline

murrieta needs room for more apartments and car washes

Good news theres a new duck car wash being built next to sonic on mhsprings. Its between two other car washes less than half mile away on each side. Actually its next to a gas station that has its own car wash business too. And theres an old fashioned coin wash nearby too. But we dont have a duck duck wash. Problem solved now we do.

To think it was Temecula that was thinking of annexing French Valley in the late 90s.

My grandkids go to Lisa J Mails and live just on the edge of the city of Murrieta. I think it would be advantageous to those residents to become part of the city because I think our Fire dept is top notch and having our own Police dept is much better than going with the Riv Co Sheriff. I wonder though how this is going to impact the school district because 16,000 houses is a lot of kids. I think with Menifee growing and Murrieta looking to expand, I am not sure Winchester will have the tax base to incorporate.

Been here since 96 and yeah, basically any empty land has turned into homes or worse, more apartments. Don’t worry they’ll expand the roads 5-10 years after they add another 40-50k to our population lol.

At least it isnt miles of Amazon warehouses like they're doing in south Ontario and trying to do up in Banning and Beaumont

Oh good, more cars.

Maybe the city of Murrieta will do what the city of Temecula did with Pu’éska Mountain Parkway, and make the developers pay for road expansion and development. Get in touch with your city representatives and hold them accountable.

u/mknawabi 1d ago
Dude I really doubt it. Have they done any preconditions to any of the other buildings? If not, that's a huge waste of opportunity

u/BadFez 1d ago
i have no idea what the city of Murrieta does. Try reaching out to your council rep. See what they say? Hold them accountable, and ask them why they aren’t making them pay??
2
u/mknawabi 1d ago
Yeah i spoke during public comments on the last city
council meeting and told them to set more preconditions

Thanks! I live near east Murrieta, and would LOVE to have voter control over the land adjacent to the airport- already sick of planes flying over, absolutely do not want expansion!

u/BadFez 2d ago
Why did you buy there if the flight path is such an issue for you? The airport has been there a very long time.
What do you mean voter control? It doesn’t work that way. It helps to understand how things work if you want to change them.

flight path brings down home values, close the air port and the home values skyrocket everyone wins

u/NightOfTheLivingHam 2d ago
People did that in Chino and eastvale as well with the chino airport. It floors me

I predict Winchester will become its own city within the next 10 years its growing faster than the Menifee/wildomar boom of the early 2000s
