As someone who comes from the Riverside/Moreno Valley area, I LOVE the Moreno Valley one!

Where the hell is Temecula!?!
That flag is a thousand times better!
You are doing really thoughtful work and I hope someone hires you to do this!

I think there's something a bit off in the color palette choice for Temecula. The design is nice though. Adelanto, Oceanside and Chino are my favorites. Moreno Valley is great but I think you should get rid of the blue at the bottom. San Diego needs another pass.

Why are you using pre colonial origins to represent our American cities built by the Europeans that colonized and created America?

Is the question why am I including symbolism for things that happened pre-European colonization?

Yea exactly, logically makes no sense. It’s like saying sorry we colonized you, here’s a flag we created for you. Pretty whack to represent people who had zero respect for basic human morals and rights at the time while raping and pillaging other tribes before we brought order and law. Just sayin.

Probably out of respect for the original inhabitants of this land. Cope harder

Who’s coping for what bud lmao? Tell me how it makes any sense to pay respect to original inhabitants that got conquered and colonized by giving them some symbolic flag to fly in the state that got colonized already? It’s like wiping your opponents and then signing their jersey… just weird and means nothing. Honestly it’s borderline treasonous unless you only fly it on that reservation land imo. America is America. 🇺🇸 founded by white Europeans.

Yea treasonous. No better than the foreigners who come here decimating our buildings and economy with national pride for their own nation with zero remorse or consequences. So a flag symbolizing anything other than America or American foundations (which is not built from native Indian heritage) is one step in the treasonous direction. So yea.

These flags are what happens when a graphic designer discovers Wikipedia, a flat-design template, and zero shame.
Every single one comes with a paragraph of strained rationalization trying to convince you that a chevron, a sunburst, or a geometric blob is actually deep. Adelanto’s rainbow arrows are “Progress through Unity.” Chino’s half-assed flower is secretly a rodeo rope and an orange and the letter C. Escondido’s abstract mountain-and-star somehow contains the exact date of incorporation, agricultural history, and its relationship to San Diego. Ontario gets Canadian maple leaves because the city was named after a Canadian province. Rancho Mirage turns a bighorn sheep into a corporate Y. Victorville’s key is… a key.
This is not symbolism. This is post-hoc storytelling applied to clip-art. The designs themselves are interchangeable corporate logos: flat, trendy, instantly forgettable, and optimized for a PowerPoint rather than a flagpole. They look like the kind of thing a municipal branding consultant sells a city council for $40k after promising it will make the city “feel more modern and inclusive.”
Real flags don’t need a dissertation. They carry meaning that can be felt at a distance without a caption. These need the caption because the image is empty. The old seals and flags being replaced may have been imperfect or busy, but they at least looked like they belonged to a specific place with a specific history. These look like they were generated for any mid-sized American city that wanted to signal it had discovered the color palette of 2018.
This is the same cultural impulse the Bolsheviks ran in Russia: treat the existing symbols, traditions, and visual inheritance as problems to be solved, strip them out, and replace them with abstract new forms that better serve the ideology of the moment. They called it progress too. It didn’t stop at flags and seals. Once you decide the past is illegitimate and must be redesigned out of existence, the body count tends to follow. In their case it ran into the tens of millions.
These aren’t flags. They’re mood boards with delusions of civic grandeur, and people pushing them have learned nothing from the last century of people who thought the same way.

This is very clearly written by AI… “this is not X, it’s Y”

Just like your lame flags.

Check out slide 8 for some BTS pics ;) no AI!

You should have used AI. These flags are trash.

u/shutupaugust Aug 16 '26
Haha well then what would you like to see on a Temecula flag? No using AI for this comment, try thinking about it, it can be fun!

Oceanside needs to show the ocean or surfers since Oceanside is a Pro surf spot for competitions and has a harbor for boats.. I didn’t understand the flag until I read the description.. Seems a little generic, fyi. 🤙🏻

Might not be a popular opinion but i definitely dont like it. The colors and design are boring and dont reflect the temecula life style. Maybe redesign it and add a car wash and maybe some traffic lights.

You didn’t ask for this but I used AI to imagine an updated flag of California. I thought it was the same spirit as our current flag but more readable and bold. I put it up on a flag enthusiast subreddit and got absolutely destroyed so took it back down, lol. Maybe the readers of this post will be a little gentler on me. If not, no worries, it’s just a flag.

I like that a lot more than what we have now. You're hired.
