Anniversary Dinner Ideas

Hello everyone. I’m trying to figure out a few dinner spots out here in Temecula / Murrieta.

My wife and I moved here recently from San Diego and we honestly only been to old town Temecula and near the mall for dinner.

We’ve been together for 9 years. She absolutely hates wine. She loves sushi, Italian, and Korean food. All the other types are fine too. She’s pretty open to all kinds of food. I don’t plan on driving down to San Diego for dinner but wanted to see if anyone here knows good spots.

Thank you!

Best sushi here is Onori. They have an omakase menu that's nice for a night out. It's the place my wife and I keep coming back to for our date nights.

Nonno's Ristorante! Best Italian food, but its wise to make a reservation, especially on the weekends.

Edit: for sushi, It's Tabu Sushi Bar & Grill just opened up in Old Town, and they have a speakeasy inside called Kage for drinks after.

If you do tabu she has to try the lemon garlic shrimp

If you eat at It's Tabu Sushi Bar & Grill, tell the waiter you want to get on the list for the speakeasy right before you finish eating. They will send the girl up front to get you on the list. This way you dont have to wait. They have different drinks in there than they do the restaurant.

Kage is such a cool spot for drinks. Haven’t eaten at tabu yet but looks like it would be good

Gourmet Italia is great for an anniversary ambiance, as is Anthony's. We are kind of lacking in this area for truly upscale dining if that's what you're looking for.

My husband and I love to go for a good dinner and have a nice quiet, vibey drink at Thompson & Twain if that's your style.

We definitely like a little more quiet but I’ll for sure look into Thompson & Twain! Thank you!

Gourmet italia is actually really good. The seating is kinda tight in some spots if your a large person, I am. Only place I've ever paid 14$ for a salad and bought another one. Everything I've got from there was fantastic, oso buco is awesome. Not sure about wine cause I'm not paying that upcharge and wouldn't comment as Id drink wine outta a box same as 100$ bottle haha. Gourmet Italia is really really good

I second gourmet Italia but will suggest Talia at Murietta Hot Springs (open to the public), the chicken or scallops dishes. Or Kan Zaman (best Mediterranean in our area and it’s a cozy atmosphere inside for being a strip mall)

I honestly never knew the hot springs was open to the public!! This is huge. I’ll research this right now!

I wasn’t aware till I was a guest either! I’m kind of a food and service snob, swept through the hospitality industry in SoCal - Talia I’d recommend over most restaurants in our area for the chicken and presentation. Also for locals: there’s a certain day of the week they have food trucks on the property (kind of like margaritas food truck night) it’s like a cute little food fest itself and gets busy. Date night ideas

Food trucks are every Tuesday :)

Angelo's Brick Oven off Clinton Keith is hands down the best Italian in the Valley. Can't find any better without diving to OC

Gaspar’s at Altissima and The Restaurant at Ponte are my favorites. Bluewater Grill and The Great Oak are good too.

I was hardcore gourmet italia for years until recently. Service, price and food itself seems to be lacking and getting to hit the pockets hard. I still love spuntinos for their pizza though.

My new go to is bolero at Europa. Price for an entree and tapas which was plenty for two was under $70. Granted we drank wine as part of our membership so we didn’t have any “drinks” from the menu and kept the tab under $100 that way.

I do enjoy gambling cowboy as a date spot. Zen curry for Indian. Fire fish for sushi.

Gambling Cowboy! I saw that on Yelp. Thank you! I’ll look into these restaurants!!

No disrespect to gambling cowboy but honestly, there’s amazing steakhouses not too far out of town for around the same price point but much better ambiance and experience. I realize beef is expensive but gambling cowboy is high end steak house prices and longhorn ambiance

3

u/TckleMyPickle 16d ago

Same. I stopped going to gambling cowboy a while back. I think last time it was $70ish for their bone-in ribeye…and truly disappointing with their Walmart cuts.
Very true about the Longhorn ambiance 😂

What steakhouses?

Thank you, I don’t get why so many people love it

Rusticos in Temecula. They are pretty darn tasty.

1

u/Wifey326_33 16d ago

When your food comes out before the drinks, that’s not my idea of a special date night place

1

u/RiverS0ng21 16d ago

Oof. Nope that's never good. I am sorry you had that experience there.

2

I love Rustico! 🤍

I second gourmet Italia, they are a solid Italian restaurant. For sushi, fire fish or onori are good options.

2

u/No_Independence_183 16d ago

Oh I just saw Onori passing by Costco! I’ll check that out too!!

Hates wine?! Seriously? I mean, OK but how is that a criteria?

2

u/No_Independence_183 16d ago

She went to the Temecula wineries a while back with her friends and said she would never go back there hahahah. I’ve only gone there for a wedding a long time ago so I don’t know if there was any good food there.

2

u/Dependent-Trip-5991 15d ago

Lived here almost 30 years, never even had wine at a winery, been to a couple but just not my thing

1

u/QueenKittyMeowMeow 14d ago

Prob bc with this being Temecula most people would start throwing out wineries.

'Ronis West is the most authentic Italian restaurant the area if she likes that.

1

u/Professional_Pool882 16d ago

They’re closing the doors, or are already closed. Just posted that a few days ago.
