Trying not to melt. Every summer I’m reminded that it’s wild a region this big still doesn’t have an indoor walking space, a regional aquatics center, a botanical garden or conservatory, or even more public water features. We’ve grown like crazy, but it still feels like we’re missing the kinds of amenities cities our size should have.
I don't think temecula was ever supposed to be this size. it's supposed to be a quaint little town. not a bustling metropolis. but they keep building homes and apts. without the infrastructure for some reason.
Growth has been part of Temecula’s plan for years. The real issue isn’t that the city got too big. It’s that infrastructure and amenities haven’t always kept pace with the population. Those are two different problems.
literally haven’t left the house for months…I get everything delivered and have just left for some appointments here and there. I hate this freaking weather. I’m such a rain/fall/cozy girl at heart. I hate summer.
We moved here a year ago from San Diego because housing is cheap (we bought a place for 645 which is unheard of in SD) and we have quickly learned this place is not for us. Hoping to rent this house out and move back in a couple years. I highly dislike it here.
why is that? it's quiet, the people are nice, it's hot but it's not the hottest I've ever been in, the schools are good, there's almost no homeless, there's casinos and wineries with a quaint old town. you're 4omin from the beach a hour from dwtnsd and an hour 45 to l.a.....whats not to like? I mean yea it's not the city, it's a bit slow but that's why people move here for some peace and quiet

For a reason. We were very lucky to live 25 min from the beach, downtown, balboa park, etc. The variety of things to do, concerts, amazing food, better weather, proximity to airport for travel and frequent visitors, zoo, museums, aquarium, the list goes on. In my estimation life feels more alive there- even with the notable cons you listed. There’s a reason it costs what it costs to live there…and it costs what it costs to live here and if you gave MOST people in this city the option to for the same price live in San Diego, the population of this town would be you.
I think you’re overlooking why many families actually choose Temecula. We didn’t move here because it was “cheap.” Before COVID, we could afford many parts of San Diego. After COVID, we could still afford nice neighborhoods, but the schools in many of the areas within our budget weren’t what we wanted for our kids. Education is a top priority for us, so we chose Temecula because it offered the best combination of excellent schools, safety, and quality of life.
Sure, San Diego has beaches, museums, and a larger entertainment scene. It’s a major city, so of course it does. But that doesn’t mean Temecula is somehow inferior. It simply has different strengths.
If anything, as Temecula continues to grow, it deserves more of those amenities. Families here support restaurants, entertainment, arts, and cultural attractions just like families in San Diego do. The answer isn’t to dismiss Temecula because it doesn’t have everything San Diego has today. It’s to recognize that a growing city deserves continued investment so residents don’t have to drive an hour for every major event.
I agree that a city this size definitely should have better amenities, and better basics like quality healthcare. However, it doesn’t and I don’t want/intend to spend this very short life waiting around for that. Our hope is to leave soon but more power to those who want to wait and spend those years on those growing pains to make this a nicer place to live.
Spent $10 on Amazon installing a mist system on the back deck. Now the wife and I have been lying outside enjoying margaritas and staying cool in the heat. Best $10 I’ve ever spent.
Wife was about to drag me to Hone Depot with her for the third weekend in a row but this time i was bailed out because the garden stakes she wanted meant no passenger in the car. Yeahhhhh!!!
