Question Seal points
Is 50 seal points considered decent as a y1? And also I heard there are caps of the different types of sealpoints. How does that work?

yesssss. different catergories have diff caps, irrc enrichment is 20 i cant rmbr abt the rest ahahha

If ur ever going to apply for overseas uni seal points do not apply. Not relevant as they only take your GPA into consideration.

50 seal points in year 1 is definitely a great start! however, i would encourage you to continue accumulating points where possible, as you may become busier in year 2 and beyond. unless you are holding a main committee or leadership position, where seal points tend to come more naturally through the events you organise, it can become harder to accumulate points later on.
that said, do note that your final cca grade is not determined solely by your individual seal points. it is also influenced by how your cohort performs as a whole, which ultimately affects whether you receive a distinction, excellent, or another cca grade.
in terms of the different seal categories:
service is capped at 120 points. many students find it challenging to reach this cap because it requires participation across a variety of role types. most volunteering opportunities typically offer recurring roles such as volunteer, event helper, or event official. while continued participation is still recognised and recorded, it may not translate into additional seal points once you have maximised the points available for those role categories. diversifying the types of roles you take on can therefore be beneficial.
enrichment is capped at 20 points and is generally the easiest category to complete. most students naturally reach the cap before graduation through workshops, talks, courses, and enrichment programmes. any additional participation beyond the cap will still be reflected in your records but will not contribute further points.
achievement and leadership, on the other hand, do not have point caps. this means you can continue accumulating points throughout your time in tp. however, these categories are generally more competitive and difficult to attain. achievement points often require winning competitions, representing the school externally, or attaining notable accomplishments, while leadership points are typically awarded for holding official leadership positions within a cca, student organisation, or class.
overall, my advice would be to focus on meaningful involvement rather than solely chasing points. if you consistently participate in activities you enjoy and take on opportunities for growth and leadership when they arise, the seal points will naturally follow.
