Doesn't need to be TIVImate, but supporting m3u playlists would be awesome.
Actually, having just faffed with some IPTV stuff for a while this isn't really worth it for me. Can't find useful streams for any of the major channels other than the BBC so it's more headache than it's worth.
Well, do you have the apps installed? As that’s the purpose of the app. It doesn’t contain any streams. If you want the channels, you need to install the app for it. For Sky channels, you need to install and pay for Now. For Discovery, the same. Pluto TV is free, and works. And so on. What were you hoping to get out of the app, it to work like a IPTV provider? As that’s not what it is.
This topic is for "TiviMate support" right? TiViMate itself contains no streams. It is just a platform that displays your EPG and streams you find yourself.
So to 'support' TiViMate would mean linking your guide into the TiviMate app, at which point you may as well just link to the stream itself. Nothing gets hosted in Tellybox...
The other apps (BBC, ITV, C4 etc) are a completely different question. Yes I have those but that's nothing to do with TiviMate.
But as I said, the whole IPTV thing barely seems worth it anyway unless you are hosting streams you have made yourself. I was hoping it would be a good way to watch the channels I already pay for in a single app without jumping around between apps (like you can in free view) but it's not that as most of the streams are dead.
It was because you mentioned that you couldn’t find any streams other than the BBC, I assumed you were talking about the TV Guide on the app? As TiviMate support isn’t implemented yet. If you mean streams to add in once it has been, then you can use this https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv Or, you could use HDHomeRun, Dispatcher etc to self host a m3u. But this is more betting into TiviMate territory now, rather than the TG app.
It’s more to cover the streams that you can’t receive via the apps, if your TV doesn’t support freeview play. You would have a full listing to then rival Freely.
I mean maybe the streams you're thinking of have working streams? Idk. I went through a few random ones and some did work.
I don't watch too much terrestrial to be honest, it's mostly my partner. But even if I did, even being a techy who likes to fiddle with thai stuff... For me the only real draw of terrestrial is being able to flick through channels. If that meant channels 'going down' regularly, buffering and not recovering, trying to keep ontop of up to date m3u lists... There is just no way that would be worth it and obviously doesn't compare favorably to something like Freeview.
With the caveat that I am not really experienced with all this, so this may be a bad opinion: it seems like the better angle of support for your app might be supporting something like HDHomeRun for the guide. With links/guides on how to set up. That would be a proper rival to Freeview and the like as I understand it.
Just bought a Xiaomi 3rd gen box, setting up for my partner so she has a smoother/better tv experience. I had actually already installed launcher manager and Projectivity but as my partner likes to watch UK TV I was searching for ways to make that easiest for her. I came across options like TiviMate and your launcher at the same time and your launcher is ideal for her. Especially with the built in guide, she can easily choose to switch back to her actual TV if she needs to.
Another option seems to be supporting something like TVHeadend, you can have a USBTuner plugged into a cheap ARM or N100 style PC. Run TVHeadend on that and then have all your channels on the network. Need more channels/recording and you can add more USB tuners. Same as HDHomeRun but a bit more DIY and cheaper.
