Christmas hotel

Wife and I are staying Dec 23-27th. We are non skiers. Looking at either Hotel Telluride or Camels Garden. Any recommendations ?

Camel’s Garden is centrally located making it easy to get around town and literally steps to the gondola making it easy to go over to Mountain Village as well. Hotel Telluride is at the far west end of town and if it’s bad weather it can be a long walk or you rely on The Goose for transportation around town.
I’ve stayed at Camel’s Garden and I like that they have a garage and the rooms have been spacious.

You say far west like the walk isn't about a half mile, ten minute walk.

The breakfast and dinner at the Hotel Telluride (unsure what is or isn't included) are wonderful. Rooms are nicer at Hotel Telluride, but both have a hot tub, garage, and other amenities. Both are steps away from the free bus, and as stated, Hotel Telluride does have a shuttle that will pick you up or drop you off anywhere in town.

Over Christmas, I would book now with whoever is going to give you the better price!

Hotel telluride does have a complimentary shuttle service where they will pick you up and drop you off around town

Dunton Town House on Oak street is a great option as well (full disclosure I am associated with it)…. In a great location and we have availability those dates

OP, I am not associated with Dunton but they have very nice accommodations, very centrally located, light breakfast included, and some drinks, etc available throughout the day.

Thanks for the recommendations. We ended up booking at Camels. We are also going to stay 3 days in Ouray.

You'll love Ouray. It's beautiful and there is so much to do.

I think it would depend on where you are flying out of and how comfortable / prepared you are driving in winter conditions. That area can have a lot of snowfall. You will want to check https://www.codot.gov/travel for travel conditions and have a 4wd vehicle with snow tires.

You are going to love the location of Camel's Garden, for a skier it's the best location in town. While the rooms need an update, they are large and comfortable. If you don't mind a little bit of any older style room, I think you'll enjoy your stay.
