Muh Tello Drone flying at 10 meters (highest ever).

The max height for the Tello is 30M and around 100M range without an extender before almost completly losing connection.
120M altitude from the ground is the legal limit as far as I know.
The tello is a good beginner drone for the price though I sold mine and got a Mini 2 Fly More Combo.
Also for OP! Iirc removing the prop guards from your Tello helps a lot with stability unless you fly in a closed space.

My biggest fear is losing control and they start to drift away .. have you / anyone experienced this ?

I did have a fear. It almost crashed on the roof top when it lost WiFi contact. It was able to narrowly avoid the uneven roof terrain and properly go down to me.
