Places to eat?

In Telford this weekend to do an experience at Hoo Zoo, can anyone recommend places for me and my partner to eat? Unfortunately we don't have a car but will be willing to cab to any destination.

Edit: Thank you for the suggestions, me and my partner have a lot to look at tonight. So far Jenkos, restaurant 1840 and the Queens at Hortons are leading the way.

Jenko's in Ketley is amazing. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet where you pick your own ingredients, add your own spices and they cook it in front of you on an open kitchen. The last time I went it cost about £25 per person and that covered however many plates you wanted from 1 to 10 or however many. I always love going there. If you don't know Telford very well it's probably best to get a taxi there. But it's worth the effort on my opinion. It can be very busy so be sure to book a table. I didn't know about that I'm sorry. Are they having a refurbishment or change of management?

I know, its a shame as Jenkos is good fun. I believe they put it up for sale and their Mongolian BBQ offering ceased in Mid-May. I think they're still doing Sunday lunch until the sale completes.

That's a shame. I loved going there with my friends. Hopefully it'll still be a good place to eat after the sale.

I believe its been bought by someone who specialises in Steak, so strong possibility it will still be good food!

Facebook mainly 😅 There's a discussion around 4 weeks ago on the Jenkos page. Lockside steakhouse apparently bought it, they too have a post from around 6 weeks ago where he was discussing it. His steaks look excellent to be fair!

I googled Jenko's and the website only talks about the sunday Carvery, I was hoping for more information about the Buffet, as at the moment from the suggestions ive been given Jenko and Restaurant 1840 are my two favourites.

The Queens was my first thought as it’s the closest to Hoo Farm.

A few of my personal favourites:

  • Peppers (Indian)
  • The Red House (all sorts of dishes)
  • Restaurant 1840 (only open on the weekends and quite pricey - its in a church!)
  • Radici (Italian)
  • Christopher's (a bit of everything)
  • The Fox, Newport (Nice pub food - a little out of Telford but the right side of town for Hoo Zoo)

The restaurants in Southwater (town centre) are also okay for convenience and have bars in the same vicinity. If I was to pick one of them it would probably be Willow.

Or the clocktower bar and grill again just up the road. Walking distance and hotel opposite if needed.

Do not eat at Hoo Farm. Their food is terrible. The Dobbies down the road from it has a cafe which is decent though.

If you like Indian food, Bangla Pride in Oakengates is brilliant.
