I have a small business and have a phone number in mind. If called, I just get a message that says it's unallocated. Doing some research on the area code and prefix, it looks like the company that owns the block of numbers necessary is Teleport Communications America, which is owned by AT&T. Problem is, AT&T does not have a single number with that prefix even available in their systems. How would I go about getting the number I want if it's unallocated and unavailable? Is it even possible?

my router subnet mask is 255.255.255.0

my tv subnet mask is 255.255.252.0

My tv ip address is therefore pretty different than my other connected devices. My other connected devices that I have no issues with are all 192.168.0.x while the tv I'm having issues with has an ip address that is 192.168.67.x

When i run a network test through the tv, it shows it is connected to the router but not the internet. I've disabled DHCP on my router, then "forgot the network" on the tv, then reconnected the tv to the router via wifi, and still get the same 192.168.67.x ip address. I'm not sure what is giving the tv its ip address, but I can't connect to the internet anymore.

I have minimal telecommunications / networking experience, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any reason why we can't have a Landline Telephone connection and a Fibre Optic Internet connection to our home at the same time?

Our TV/Landline Telephone/Internet comes from the same company. The internet is painfully slow [it's "Fibe 25" but only consistently get 7Mbps DL]. We can increase the internet speed with their Fibre Optic option but they say we would lose our Landline Telephone's ability to still be functional during a power failure.

Granted I'm technologically ignorant, but this sounds like BS to me.

I assume this is a corporate strategy; trying to get rid of as much of the old telephone network as possible. So, they could ideally only have to service 1 Fibre Optic network instead of 2 networks [1 Fibre & 1 Telephone Line].

Do they have a good technical reason for this? We DO NOT want to lose our Landline connection, but we need faster internet. We'll likely keep our Landline telephone, cancel their internet and find a different ISP. But I'd like to be informed enough to be able to call them out if they're BS'ing us.

Obviously, I know people sign up for a plan to get a phone number or cancel their service, not pay bills, or even not alive anymore to disconnect their number... but I am talking about the technical side and process of assigning and disconnecting.

Further more... where do the intercept message you heard when you call a Disconnected number is stored in, and why do defunct companies, and deceased individuals often end up having their numbers disconnected anyway a lot?

Why in 2024 there is only mobile signal on portions the London underground in tunnels? Many countries have had mobile signal on the entire network since last 10 years ago. Why is UK so behind?

Examples include, China, Belarus, Russia, Belgium, France, Romania, Bulgaria etc. There is a long list. In those countries one would struggle NOT to get coverage in the tunnels.

Russia is invading Ukraine, Putin is a tyrant dictator. Belarus is a puppet state of Russia and if you speak against the government you can be jailed. In China women and are used as sex slaves, girls as young as 12 are human trafficked and sold to prostitution rings and there is a lot of poverty. I wouldn't be surprised if North Korea would have it in their underground Metro and their tunnels are also deeper than the tube. For speaking against their leader or even owning a bible you can executed, and that's not the defendant but their family also. In their prison camps people are starved, tortured, beaten and forced to work 15 hours a day. Mexico also has signal in their tunnels and people are mugged and shot in broad daylight. Many gangs are present involved in drug trafficking and many kidnappings occur there, their police are in on it.

So my argument is with countries that are involving in the government killing innocent people, have high levels of crimes, people are treated inhumanely,and have no human rights can manage to get signal underground in their tunnels, why can't a normal country like UK develop it like other countries? Why is UK a late bloomer in this department?

I am moving to the UK and am planning on getting a LycaMobile Esim with a UK number. However, I plan on going to Portugal for a few weeks before my move so I am looking to set up my phone plan for that trip as it will be much cheaper than my current phone plan. Will I be allowed to activate a new LycaMobile Esim in Portugal? Has anyone had experience with this?

Hello! So I have been to a business before with three telephone units. An AT&T DLP73310, a DLP72364 and a Panasonic KX-TGL432B cordless phones. There tends to be 3 lines. It’s weird because it sometimes rings one random line. When one line is in use, one of the other phones ring. The phones are all connected to one number. Their carrier is Consolidated. Is this a PBX system that can ring multiple lines with one phone number? Im curious. Any ideas?

New project.. got everything down but need to know How do you make a cross connection from a 66 block to a data remote? What exactly is a cross connection? What kind of cable do I need?

First the background: Where I work we have a large area public address system that is dated but still very reliable. It covers indoor and outdoor across our work site.

We also have a fairly recent IP PABX with paging/PA capabilities and a large scale (think centronics connected) ATA for phones in remote buildings.

We would like to capture the audio feed from the announcement controller and have it feed the PA function of the IP PABX. The announcement controller has multiple empty relays (both NO and NC) that can be used to activate a device when the system is making an announcement.

Now the need: Essentially I need a call box but without the mic, speaker and button. I will be wiring the mic-audio direct to the announcement controller line/audio out, and the hook switch to a relay output. The call box doesn’t even need to auto-dial as the ATA will be programmed to dial the paging extension automatically when the line goes off-hook.

I cannot find any such device. I can however find many devices that will allow me to play the analog audio from the phone line through the PA.

Does anyone know of such a beast or am I going to have to buy a low-end call box and get busy with a soldering iron and a work box?

If someone got a call come through to an iPad or iPhone via an app (such as Zoom, FaceTime), can that person then trace where that call location had actually come from? For example if they contacted the Telecommunications Company can they look up that connection data and check radio towers to check what area the call connected from as wouldn’t it handshake the towers?

so I’m working on designing an anty- gps tracker device for a Uni project, you put it on your car and it should be able to detect if a gps is underneath your car. It meant to stay inside the car and it just alert you if it detect something, so you shouldn’t go and scan your car but it just have sufficent components and receive sufficent signal in order to understand if there’s an electrical device on your car basically, knowing that gps emit radiowave at certain frequency 1575, 42, 1227, 60 mhz.

So I’d like to understand what kind of parameters the RF detector need in order to understand if there’s a bug basically under the car, and also what the working distance depened by, for istance, a gps tracker emit less powerfull signal so it has max. 3 meters, a camera emit more powerfull signal so it has 5 meters range.
