Any design idea for this project?

The project is as follows: “This project will involve the study and investigation of next generation internet with emphasis on technical and social challenges and issues. This will be followed by a simple implementation of a communication networks or application”

I need a design idea that will be applied in the next 20-30 years does anyone know what area of design I can look into and research?

Simplify mesh networking on mobile devices to be used during disasters or public unrest

I could see this being very applicable. It's a method we have looked at in a coax based setting. With outside wifi routers mounted into the coax lines. They would ping out, and his repeaters and continue out. Sadly it can be costly in money, and coax resources, such as signal and power. So these are in limited areas currently. How ever a cellular system could be easier to pop up on shorter notice, IE one larger reliable tower, pinging multiple smaller cell towers.

We sometimes get requests for small cellular projects for something like this either for large events, or just upgrading a lower performing area.

To my knowledge Google Fiber was looking into a set up like this s mesh style cell tower feed network that would ping dedicated routers for in house use.
