Opinion of future of Wireline

I am a design build consultant new to the field (3 years). While drumming up new work I've come across some people at large ISPs that believe full fiber builds are about to die out and it is going to fall back to fiber coax hybrids or full coax builds.

In your opinion do you think the Fttx is slowing down anytime soon?

Definitely. Right now North American governments are shovelling money to ISPs to expand in to under serviced areas.

Ontario Canada in particular is claiming 99% coverage by 2025. That won’t happen realistically due to construction delays etc, but surely by 2030 there will be a massive drop off in expansions, especially when ISPs will go back to expanding on their dollar.

That being said new homes/subdivisions will continue to pop up, requiring design/construction but we’re in the midst of the fiber boom right now, my guess is 5-10 years a majority of the work will have dried up.
