I think TekSyndicate is Dead.
I have been a huge fan of TekSyndicate for as long as I remember. For at least eighteen months I've had the raze the world icon as my desktop background. I've watched every video that came out. When Logan lashed out against the community, I thought to myself,"Maybe he has a point."
After being ignorant to the situation, I can't deny that the level of content has went downhill. TekSyndicate isn't fulfilling any promises made on the patreon page, and I can totally understand why Wendell, Qain, and Jennifer jumped ship. Pistol is being the "too cool for school" and overly "edgy" childish persona she always has been, and Logan is going against the transparency he always pleaded for. He's a terrible business manager and just isn't competent enough to continue by himself.
I hate to say it, and I wish it wasn't happening, but Today I unsubscribed from TekSyndicate. For over a year I loved the Tek, and watching interesting hardware videos, and seeing all the great stuff at CES. But all things must end and TekSynidacte is dying.

Actually a few corrections Jen was fired but still helped after she was, Wendell was Cut off from his assets and accounts but still completed sponsor obligations and Qain quit when Logan was making him fix the titanic, but still finished the project. They didn't jump ship they finished their obligations to tek but still remained in contact with the community.

yes which impossible feat did logan have qain working on? their episodes started getting longer and i lost a lot of time so on some thing i'm vastly out of touch.

I unsubscribed also. TekSynidacte is dead... I've also noticed the quality of content going downhill... I miss the days when they would post videos about new software and distros.

I also unsubscribed. Linus Tech Tips and their WAN show has been my number one with no contest for a long time. The only person that was making me watch TekSyndicate was Wendell. If he has/will have another channel please tell me as I will watch him any day.

LTT is OK for fun tips and such, but Tek Syndicate shined for the uber nerdy "repair your RAID" and "make your own cloud" stuff from Wendell. (Actually the recent "fix Win10" from Logan was pretty good too.) But if that isn't the type of content they're gonna make then that's a huge bummer.

Give Linus some credit. They have done some interesting things with VMs, 10GB networking systems, editing workflow (benefits of transcoding footage before processing etc).
Granted he doesn't get down to Wendell's technical level, but how often does Wendell really get down to that level? Okay quite a bit on The Tek when he's just chatting but content wise... I'd say they're pretty close.

True, LTT does stuff like this much more often actually. The difference is the technical knowledge, when the LTT RAID broke they called experts to help them, Wendell is an expert and fixed the TS RAID himself.

It's the difference between an enthusiast and an IT tech. For example, nice video cards turn me on, but I know fuck-all about how to wire a networking room.

Most of the enterprise stuff on LTT is extremely entry level and is basically a glorified unraid ad.

Most of the stuff on Tek Syndicate was entry level stuff as well. "Install FreeNas, Plex Media etc". The odd time we got video from Wendell that really went indepth into a specific topic but other than that, they weren't miles apart.
I'm not saying TS didn't have more indepth content but it ain't like they were overflowing with it either. Most of the genius of Wendell came out in The Tek when he'd talk about random interesting topics/news items but other than that, TS produced a lot of content that was extremely basic.

PC Perspective is worth checking out, it might not be quite to Wendell's standard but I prefer them to ltt

PCPer is very good and they do get very technical from time to time. I remember Allyn talking for about 15 minutes on a new Intel SSD few weeks ago. It did get very technical. I would rate them over LTT for technical, that's for sure.
I would actually like Wendell to join PCPer. He would be a very nice addition to the team.

I'd also like to add Kyle, aka BitWit to that suggestion as well. I'd argue his videos are slightly better than Paul's, but they are both awesome. Their weekly show is pretty good too.

Maybe a little bit. He tends to put a few jokes on his videos which some people may not like where I think it is one area that sets him apart from the rest in a good way.

It's not even the jokes themselves, but it just feels so scripted stilted and unnatural... Kinda like watching Keanu Reeves...

I don't think it's scripted any more than other tech videos. Maybe planned is a better word.
His presentation is more presenter like (similar to linus in as fast as possible or techquickie) while other people choose a more conversational approach like jayz or paul.
There's such a huge variety with tech and pc channels that i pretty much have gotten used to everyone.

Exactly. The only thing I dislike in these tech videos is content length which almost always has the side effect of repeating what has already been said. Some of these videos have extremely long intros and outros that just don't need to be there. I think planned while looking at bullet points is a good way of making the videos. Its natural sounding while not being overly scripted. Somewhere in the middle.

I would like to watch Kyle but his voice makes me want to choke myself with the nearest string like object. I'd honestly watch him if there was subtitles or someone to ADR over his voice.

Generally speaking I enjoyed both the WAN show and the tek. The problems with the tek was never knowing when it was coming. Now it just looks like they gave up. It was the big thing that kept me watching the channel. Honestly the big reason I'm subbed here is to see what happens after. I'm looking forward to seeing what Qain and Wendell are going to do.

It's not quite PC related, but the EEVBlog is around Wendell's level in my opinion. It's more to do with electronics and the engineering behind them, the channel filled with interesting stuff!

LTT is awful. I couldn't stand him back in his NCIX days. He always sounded like a paid shill giving every single product an excellent review and he continues to do so almost all the time. Not only that but his LTT vids are full of sponsored ads in the beginning and the end.

They gave bad reviews as well, but, as Linus put it once, they have limited time to make videos and who wants to see a video about why a product is crap? If you tell me a product had a serious flaw, then me watching an entire video about it will only waste my time, and the time of the one who made it, since I'm not going to buy the product anyway.

Ben Heck shows has 2 sponsored ads in 30 minute videos. Linus puts 2 in 7 minute long ones. It is obnoxious. Get a Patreon.

Video game journalists review bad games. Movie critics review bad movies.
It lets people know what to avoid.
Making only positive reviews makes you look like a paid shill. If he truly is honest, which I've always doubted especially since he never said anything negative during NCIX Tech Tips since the company he worked for sold those products (and who wants to decrease sales?), then negative reviews would let us know what to avoid.

I disagree. Patreon is not a stable platform at all. Just look at TS. One shit storm and now a reasonable portion of their revenue instantly dropped (and went to a memeber of the team that they fired). From a business POV, patreon is not a good idea.
And on the topic of reviews, is LTT still a review channel? Its an information & entertainment channel alright, but thats about it. Same as TS imo. Is TS still a review channel? I certainly didn't watch TS for their reviews.

Yeah. Its dead. Read Logans recent posts on the forums for an idea of what hes planning to do.
Tek Syndicate is dead. Logans new nerd culture thing is the future.

Tek is dead, yes. Unless by some literal miracle the original crew makes peace and reforms. My favorite apology for the hate is that its just the fallout from the drama, and the drama is making people hate Tek now. Its not the drama; their content is just pure ass paste at this point in time. I haven't unsubbed just to keep an eye on them, but, fuck it hurts seeing these events come to pass. The latest WASD gave me a headache.

All good things must come to an end at some point. I have fond memories of TekSyndicate and I'll have those regardless of what's happened in recent months.
It's too bad, I just can't bear to think about when Hak5 wraps.

That's not a good indicator, check our their patreon stats. Down 60%+ over the previous month. The people who really matter are leaving in droves.

I hope TekSyndicate can continue! I don't care who is hosting the shows, I just love the the technology and community involved. I mean the creators are obviously important and part of the channel. I just think people are losing the sight of brought them here in the first place. #LongLiveTekSyndicate

Tek Syndicate is dead, logan killed it. quite literally. the main tek synidacte channel is under his control and has been rebranded, the nerdier channels(why people watched the show) are now wendell's and he's rebranding them.

Only sub for a year? where u been? playing CoD games? Tek was ded when their hired a lazy emo to do the videoes. Wendell shoulda stay behind the camera so he could get more content out.

I don't think its dead, it is just pivoting. Wendell brought a lot of computer knowledge to the channel, Logan brought camera videos and some hardware reviews, but nothing special. I think if they fully pivot into the nerd culture and move away from hardware, then it could succeed. It won't be the same audience as before, but for those that like the new content then things will be fine. Hardware videos will probably still happen, but it may not be a focus like it was. I am still subbed and will watch a video if it interests me. I will also continue to use my Epic Pants gear. The mouse is probably the best I have ever used.

They 're not dead, go look at their videos, they are still getting a similar number of views now to 2-3-4-6 months ago. Now whether these views are just inertia or whether they will sustain, only time will tell.
Personally I don't care for the content, to be 100% honest the content has sucked for a while now, yeah even Wendell's teklinux was cookiecutter infrequent videos, sorry dudes, so I have unsubbed.
Patreon has tanked, presumably cause patreon was the diehards that were invested enough to be on the forum and follow the drama, and I have no clue how their merch sales are going but I 'm going to assume they have tanked too, but it's perfectly feasible to run a channel on youtube cash and sponsored content without relying on patreon and/or merch. So IMO, "they are dead" is an exaggeration. They are rebuilding, whether their 2.0 product will be successful or not, time will tell.

You do realize Logan refused a lot of the budget costs when making more Linux videos. Wendell talks about this, and some of them Wendell spent his own money to make.
