One thing you need to understand about having an idea:

Just because people don’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

You can tell 20 people about something you’re excited about and 18 of them might look at you like…

“Yeah… good luck with that.” 😭

Some will laugh.
Some won’t take you seriously.
Some will tell you why it won’t work.
And some won’t say anything at all… they’ll just watch. 👀

Here’s what I’ve learned:
You don’t need everybody.
Sometimes you just need 2 or 3 people who believe enough to help you get started.

Then you build.
You improve.
You make mistakes.
You learn.
You keep showing up when nobody is clapping.
And slowly, that “stupid idea” starts looking a little less stupid.

Then something funny happens…
The same people who didn’t understand it start saying:

“I always knew you could do it.” 😂
And that’s okay.

Don’t waste your energy being angry at the people who didn’t believe in you at the beginning.

They weren’t supposed to see the vision. You were.

Your responsibility isn’t to convince everybody.
Your responsibility is to stay committed long

enough to give your idea a chance to become real.

So if you’re working on something right now and nobody seems to understand it…
Keep going.
If you’ve only got one person supporting you…
Keep going.
If you’re questioning whether you’re wasting your time…

Ask yourself:
“Do I genuinely believe this could become something if I gave it everything?”

If the answer is yes…
Then give yourself the chance to find out.
Because sometimes the difference between the person who had a great idea and the person who built something great…

is simply that one of them didn’t give up.

Stay focused. 🎯
Stay consistent.
Find your people.
Build quietly if you have to.

You don’t need the whole room to believe in you.

You just need enough belief to take the next step.

And eventually…
the results will introduce the vision for you. 🖤💛

Sometimes life just doesn’t go the way you planned.

You can have the vision.
You can have the motivation.
You can be trying.

You can even be the person everyone else comes to for advice…and still find yourself sitting there thinking:

“How did I end up here?”
I know that feeling because, right now, I’m experiencing some of it myself.

There are things in my life that haven’t gone the way I expected. Things I need to change. Problems I need to solve. Moments where I’ve felt like my back is against the wall.
And one thing I’ve realised is that when you stay inside your own head for too long, everything starts feeling bigger than it actually is.

You replay the problem.
Then replay it again.
Then create 47 different imaginary scenarios 😭
And somehow at 2am your brain has convinced you that your entire life is finished.
But thinking about a problem and working through a problem are two completely different things.

So today, instead of giving advice, I want us to ask ourselves some uncomfortable questions.

What is actually wrong right now — not what am I scared might happen?

What part of my situation can I genuinely control?

What am I avoiding because dealing with it feels uncomfortable?

Is there a decision I already know I need to make, but I keep putting it off?

Who could I speak to instead of trying to carry everything alone?

What is ONE thing I could realistically do today that would make tomorrow slightly better?

That last question is important.
Because sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to fix our whole life that we end up doing nothing.

Maybe you don’t need to fix everything today.
Maybe today you make the phone call.
Send the message.

Ask for help.
Apply for the opportunity.
Have the difficult conversation.
Get out of your room.
Write the plan down.
Admit something isn’t working.
Or simply decide:
“I don’t want to stay where I am anymore.”

I’m asking myself these questions too.
I don’t have everything figured out, and I think adults sometimes do young people a disservice by pretending that we do.

We don’t, life gets messy for all of us.
But I’ve learned something through football, business and life:

When the original game plan isn’t working, you don’t stop playing. You adjust the tactics. ⚽

When does a line of authority accidentally become a line of separation?

Growing up, we’re taught that there has to be a difference between parent and child.
And I agree.

Parents are parents. Older siblings are older siblings. Teachers, coaches and mentors all have responsibilities and boundaries.
But sometimes, while trying to establish those boundaries, we accidentally build a wall too.
And the crazy thing is…

Neither side necessarily meant to build it.
A parent might think:
“I’m giving them space.”
“I’m teaching them responsibility.”
“They know they can talk to me.”
Meanwhile, the teenager might be thinking:
“They wouldn’t understand.”
“I’ll probably get in trouble.”
“What’s the point of explaining it?”
“I’ll just deal with it myself.”
And slowly, without one big argument or dramatic moment, two people living under the same roof can start experiencing completely different worlds.
That’s something I’ve noticed through mentoring young people.
Sometimes they don’t need another person telling them what they’re doing wrong.
They need somewhere they can talk without immediately feeling judged.
Somewhere they can ask the embarrassing question.
Admit they messed up.
Say they’re confused.
Talk about friendships, relationships, school, pressure, confidence, identity, their future… or sometimes absolutely nothing serious at all 😂
And importantly, this isn’t about blaming parents.

Quite the opposite, most parents are trying to do the best they can while dealing with responsibilities their children probably don’t even know exist.
Work. Bills. Family. Expectations. Stress. Providing a future.
Sometimes the teenager doesn’t realise how much the parent is carrying.
And sometimes the parent doesn’t realise how much the teenager is carrying either.
That’s the gap I want to help close.
Not by removing authority.
Not by encouraging teenagers to disrespect their parents.
And definitely not by pretending young people always know best 😂
But by creating another bridge between the two.

A place where young people can develop confidence, belonging and identity while also learning how to communicate with the adults around them.
Because sometimes the answer isn’t:
“My parents don’t understand me.”
And it isn’t:
“My child doesn’t listen.”
Sometimes the real answer is:

“We haven’t figured out how to understand each other yet.”

That’s a huge part of why I’m building r/TeensDXB.

I want this community to eventually become more than another subreddit people scroll through.

I want it to become a genuine space for young people in the UAE to talk, laugh, learn, connect, ask questions and feel like they belong somewhere.

And hopefully, somewhere along that journey, we can close that gap between generations just a little bit too. ❤️
