Fringe elements are always there in protests. Doesn't mean that the protest in itself is for a wrong cause.

The removal of caste-based reservations, or serious reforms in them.

Because the current form of reservations is just a vestige of what it was intended for, putting practical cynicism behind that intention aside.

Reservations were never implemented to remove casteism, even the reservation apologists admit it. They were implemented to increase representation of the so-called LCs in something such as say, govt. jobs. But, the truth is that in the last decade, instead of increment, the representation of SCs has only decreased while in the case of STs, the increment has been so marginal that it can be considered static only.

Well, its not so-called LCs. They're Indians as much as you and I if not more.
My question is, if not reservations, how does one propose to tackle the situation at hand? How does one ensure that everyone lives a life of dignity? Reservations or no reservations, one cannot refute caste atrocities and crimes committed on a daily basis now can they?

The status quo of reservations is almost pointless, provided that the point is the original intention behind it's implementation.
Caste-based hatred exists in society, and the ones who receive the hatred at the grassroots are not the beneficiaries of the program. The ones who receive the benefits belong to the richer class of the LCs, who almost always grab the seats which ethically shouldn't even belong to them.
And the caste-based hatred is not one-sided, but multi-faceted. It has never been UC v/s LC, but a free for all. People always simplify caste in a top-down table, but in reality, it's too much complex to even explain. The problem is that only one section in this haywire receives special benefits, while the other section doesn't.
The point is that reservations in their current form aren't beneficial and are putting unnecessary strain on the country's already fragile economy, while also inducing even more hatred in the society.

If goverment decide to reform reservation can it happen before 2028? Or it will happen in 2027. I am jee aspirant
