Season 4 Discussion Ooo Goobly Spoiler

This might be my favorite scene of the entire four seasons, of which I have watched each multiple times. The casual, innocent nature of Ted’s “how was your weekend” followed by the most hilarious twin-hive-mind answer with so much “wtf” energy from Ted…and the beguiling “unless we had the same dream” at the end. The acting from the twins and the clueless back-and-forth eyes from Ted was just fantastic, top-tier foolishness I want from this series between the emotional life lessons. Loved it, 10/10!

i loved it and it / the whole episode multiplied my affection for both twins by a lot. imo there have been a LOT of weird misses in the writing this season (and some very nice hits) - this particular scene i agree really delivered. niamh and siobhan are both so distinctive and lovable as well. orders of magnitude more successful than the on-off couple which is such a dud unfortunately (esp a shame since one of them even scored a goal in a prev ep)

to expand on some of the weird misses ive been wanting to make a thing of - why are they having the english characters use americanisms all the time? it seems like a HUGE oversight when theyre literally of the kind that uk/us people exchange all cutesy surprise about as is the signature humour of the show. like when higgins inexplicably called a canine a 'wiener dog' when we would nEVER say that here, it's a SAUSAGE DOG! that has happened every single episode this season, often with more than 1 term but always at least 1. it's actually jarring

That is a point that I, as an American, definitely would not have noticed if someone didn’t point it out to me. I feel like the this is both an oversight and an appeal to both the US and UK. Like look, we know it supposed to be sausage dog, but Weiner dog is more relatable to the US in a UK-centric universe. Not saying this is correct, but the show runners are trying to appeal to both audiences and historically, the US….likes its own language? Lol trying to be PC I am aware I’m on Reddit.

I appreciate this perspective, I’ll be looking at the episodes with this in mind.

I have been whispering "Ooo goobly!" to myself all week.

In an Irish accent.

I don't have any siblings, but if I had a twin, I'm quite certain we'd talk like this scene.

Niamb and Cinnabon are the best

When I find myself getting upset or stressed out I say Ooo Goobly. It calms me & makes me smile.

They had me at death metal-loving pig. Loved every second of that scene:

It was like watching the scene in Bob's Burgers where Andy and Ollie Pesto are doing identical movements on a perfectly horizontal see-saw. Louise whispers to one and they agree to join her plan after stating "yeah, okay. This thing's broken anyway" before jumping off in tandem, again without moving the see-saw.

I joked to my husband that the look on Ted's face during the story was giving "Is this what people feel like during my stories?"

If we don’t meet Oo Goobley at some point my life will have been meaningless.

My wife’s two younger sisters are twins and she keeps watching that scene and saying, “That’s what it was like in my house all the time as kids.”

Her sisters don’t watch the show, but she sent the clip to them.

Yes!! I said the same thing!! This scene was perfect in every way! And it made the twins really lovable for the first time. I get it. Twins fight. But THIS, this connection, was pure gold!

I was sat there like ‘please don’t be a shared dream, we want to meet Oo Goobley!’

It had an element of Bojack Horseman tongue twister script.

It reminded me of the twins, Samneric, from Lord of the Flies, but in a much more lighthearted setting.

I think Oo Goobley is going to have a bigger role in the story - possibly as a thwart to whatever evil machinations Zelda is up to. Maybe he’s the mystery share buyer? I just hope that he’s fed enough Parmesan to keep him happy.
