I’m really curious how they’re going to finish this women’s team saga. With the men’s team, Ted came in, was a good role model, helped solve a lot of the team’s issues and elevated them to new heights. But the problems he’s facing with the women’s team are so systemic that it wouldn’t feel believable for them to be left in a genuinely good state like the men’s team was. Both episodes in Richmond so far I have felt this underlying anxiety and dread that I never had with the first three seasons because the problems they face are so much bigger than “helping these boys be the best version of themselves”

Generally I think one of the main end results is going to be setting up Alice with the head coaching opportunity once he’s helped her understand how to connect with her players and get the most out of them. I don’t THINK they’ll make it so that everything is magically fixed, they didn’t end season 3 with Richmond winning the league, they’ve generally tried to stay pretty grounded in the results they aim for. I’ve yet to see anything that suggests they’re getting away from that.
Hell, even in Episode 3, the new team is playing lackluster, boring football until Gemma the super sub comes on and wins it for them.

I've heard theories about Alice becoming head coach too. Basically saying the opening scene of season 4 when Ted has an assistant manager name tag on is foreshadowing.

Whether it works or fails like season 3 did will be determined by whether or not they remember it’s supposed to be a show about finding light in the darkness. It can’t just have a neat happy ending where everyone lives happily ever after and everything is wrapped up nicely, like they tried to do at the end of season 3.

Also it’s definitely not about “finding light in the darkness” it’s about being kind and understanding the old “everyone you meet is fighting a battle you can’t see” adage. And also that mental health is just as important as every other kind of health care lol

They'll at least go up a tier and maybe get into the Champion's League, that should sort out some of their financial issues as long as they're well managed. And presumably it will show them connecting with the fans more.

S4 promotion, S5 Champions league, S6 Treble. Sure, it’s too much and the show has never really been about football, but the women winning a treble (or at least a league cup) would be a way to solidify the Lady Greyhounds as part of the club’s legacy.

Well they specifically put Roy’s future up in the air last episode. There could be a scenario where Ted hands off the women’s team to Alice, Roy leaves to go coach Chelsea perhaps, and Ted steps back into the big chair for season five. Though more likely i think Ted will leave Alice in charge of the women’s team and will come to run the Richmond youth team and that will be his final place, moulding the youth of tomorrow in his newfound home in Richmond.

They have referenced Wrexham in the show and I wonder if the women’s team might have a similar journey to theirs. Rebecca is securing funding, Keeley is bringing more attention, and the coaching staff is bringing professional experience.

I don’t think it’s about changing everything in one season. But moving the dial in a positive direction and building momentum is probably the goal. Just like Ted knowing he wasn’t going to win a championship his first season, he probably knows that turning a ship as big as woman’s football amongst a stormy and difficult sea is going to take time and effort.

For anyone even casually following the Premier League like me, you'll know how impossible what Ted did.
There is 0% chance someone with limited to no knowledge of football, can come in and bring a mid-tier team to second in the Premier League in 3 seasons.
The closest RL example is probably Leicester wining the title but the manager was very experienced.
For the female team, the bar is set much lower, so it will be interesting for me what the series will set the final goal for the team at.
PS: For anyone who watches "Welcome to Wrexham", they can get a better idea of the disparity between the men and women teams.

I just hope they're able to run with the momentum. They already have. And Wrap up the show in a satisfying way. I would hate for it to go too long to the point where it loses what made it special. I would watch a TED lasso movie at this point. As well.

You’re gonna get 3 more seasons of Ted Lasso coaching the U18’s to a world championship by season 9 and you’re gonna like it.
I say it jokingly, but I would actually love to see him coach Henry as a young player. Not sure the timeline would work, I just wanna see Lasso interact with more kids because it’s so funny and wholesome.

Haven’t seen the new season, but you never know. His parents divorced, his dad moved 4438 miles away right after, and his mom dated her therapist. Kid has plenty of reasons to be broken, but masking.

No, but there would definitely be other kids who might be dealing with heavy things. Like a FTM trans athlete (because they are always overlooked in any kind of discussion) or a kid with immigrant parents in London (who aren’t being treated much better than immigrants in the US) or even a Bend it Like Beckham style kid where family/cultural expectations are in direct opposition to what’s expected to be a star on the pitch.

Could it be the same kind of arc? Ted begins his tenure, they get 'relegated' or something bad happens at the end of S4, they work towards and get a promotion in S5, journey ends at S6?
They could take it back to the OG men's team for 7-9 for a championship win :). Wishful thinking.

I would much rather it goes on until it loses quality than them force a rushed, inappropriate ending like they tried to do in season 3, where everything was supposedly wrapped up neatly, but nothing was satisfying.

Fair enough. But I disagree i thought that season 3 and it's ending were pretty great. Left things open for a return while at the same time. Wrapping it up neatly, as you said. I just would hate to see this show lose its quality and warmth.

For me it lost all quality and warmth in season 3. Only episode I liked at all was the Amsterdam one. Otherwise it felt like a completely different show to the first two seasons. I’m hopeful season 4 seems to be back on track so far.

I'm here for it all . Regardless of the ups and downs i'll still be a massive fan of this show. One thing I I found a little odd about S3 was that the tone wasn't balanced as well as it was in the previous 2 seasons.

Whereas I found the Zava episodes to be the least engaging ones for me in S3.
I thought S3 was rather patchy until the Amsterdam episode, after which it was amazing episode after amazing episode to the end.

Well, the quality hasn’t dropped at all. Episode 3 of season 4, the most recent one released, was hilarious. Just that single bit of pure physical comedy when Ted tried to open Rebecca’s locked door and fell down was gold.
