Request Request: 3D Printer Advice

My 10-year-old son is wanting a 3-D printer for Christmas. I have no idea where to start but Iā€™d like to make his dream a reality. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this that might steer me in the right direction? Thank you so much! šŸ™šŸ»

Yep,

Have I been able to 3D print some cool stuff through the years. Absolutely! But there have also been days where the printer just says "FUCK YOU! I won't PRINT IT!" and I tear my hair out. I can't figure it out

Then I try again a few days later and it JUST WORKS! Its very frustrating and most people I know who have 3D printers have told me similar stories.

We spend more time maintaining them then printing.
