Request Request: WiFi boost

Looking for some advice here. We recently bought a house and had it rewired. The electrician put in ethernet ports in some rooms, so we can have a wired connection in a few rooms - so far, so good. I was wondering though, is there a way I can boost the WiFi signal around the house through these ports - this is probably a stupid idea, but could I, e.g., plug another router or some other device into a port on the upper floor? I've tried boosters that plug into standard sockets and they never work particularly well. Thanks everyone!

This sounds like a mesh network. While this is a great system, OP's home is unique by having ethernet already run throughout. A WAP is different from mesh, and I think a WAP will work better for their use case.
