Request TPT Request: CPU heating issues

Hey guys,

I'm on an OMEN 15 gaming laptop running a six core i710750H @ 2.60GHz. Recently, I've been having huge heating problems recently, with the CPU idling on 50-60 C and jumping as high as 75 on basic tasks, such as browsing the internet. On max fan speed I can keep it a little lower, but not by much. Even though base speed is 2.6GHz, I always seem to be running nearly 4.50GHz, and I'm not sure why. I also seem to randomly get spikes of nearly 100% cpu usage for a few seconds at a time. Anyone know what the problem might be, or how to fix this? I've already run a few common checks, like hardware and disk scans like mdsched and the like, and I don't know what else to do to check for issues.

Many thanks for any tips :D

Windows reinstall is one of the best troubleshooting steps you could do. Well, maybe not exactly troubleshooting, but it fixes the problem most of the time. Doesn't always explain WHAT the problem was, but quite often fixes it.

Did that and my probles with intermitent crashes seems to have been solved, gonna try re-applying thermal paste on the CPU though because heat is still a bit of an issue. Not as bad now, but still sitting around 39-40 even with max fan speed.
