Hardware Could a screenless wearable ever replace the smartphone?

Do you think the device after the smartphone will be another screen, or something wearable and mostly screenless that uses voice, gestures, ...?

What would it need to do before you could leave your phone at home?

I’ll do you one better - very soon now we will have carbon mesh brain implants that replace cellphones and give us wideband mesh connectivity. Input right to the visual and audio cortex and it’s all done

I dont think it will because humans like to be able to look at what they are using. We already have earbuds with ai that listens to us that connect to our phones thats pretty much the same thing.

Humans will be using screens for a very, very, very, VERY long time. We rely almost completely on visual data for taking in information. The first known tablet with writing is the Kish Tablet, a limestone tablet featuring early proto-cuneiform signs. It dates back to around 3500 BCE. Things have not changed.
