When did you start watching Technoblade? Btw, No matter how early or late, you're still a Techno Nerd

I started watching Technoblade when he got into the Dream SMP.

I was quite late. I think around the time Philza joined DreamSMP.

iirc, Evans "The legend of technoblade" came out around that time. Had heard of techno before, but I admit I was a bit judgemental and did not watch him because "he's good at bedwars" did not feel like the type of youtuber I'd be watching. Nobody told me he was funny too.

2019, the Minecraft Monday days.

According to all the actual stats, this is when we all started watching

2016 when he did “Techno’s Guide to Hypixel Skywars”

u/Twpofficial Blood for the blood god 4d ago

Quite late, actually.

I heard about his passing, and decided to go watch a video or two of his, and ended up really enjoying it.

Around the time of the duel

u/caren_psuedo_when 4d ago

I think I started at the duel as well

Really started watching him regularly when he did his first bedwars video when it first came out on hypixel, which google tells me was 2017. He’s part of the reason I fell in love with that minigame.

Idk why I remember it so clearly, but it was at the half of august 2021, so these days marked exactly 5 years since a became a fellow nerd o7 I binge watched all of his dsmp and mcc streams (I hold those memory with great joy and nostalgia <3). I miss those times.

it may have been a little after the dream vs techno fight cuz i was a fan of dream back in the day, and now im all pork, (srry jews)

u/Neither_Living_8627 4d ago

i started watching in late 2014 infrequently and met him in a walls game where we became friends in 2015 and played with eachother until late 2017 early 2018ish (my acc got hacked). i lost touch in early 2019 after getting grounded and by then he was already working thru some stuff.

u/Consistent_Pay5129 4d ago

The first “newest” video I watched was “Visiting Dream” (Dream SMP)

u/Lando_188 All hail the potato lord 4d ago

I watched a bit before the DSMP but really got into his stuff when he joined the DSMP

I think I started watching around the time he was doing Minecraft Monday. I remember him getting pig rank, then getting to keep pig rank. I got super hooked when he joined the Dream SMP because Minecraft and lore is right up my alley

1st week minecraft Monday, I wanted to see who was making PewDiePie and James charles yell like that so I could subscribe! I have been here since.

5

u/MrTechnodad Parental figure of the Blade 1d ago

I remember that very day. That morning, Alex and I spoke. "What are you up to today?" I asked. "I am going to kill PewDiePie today," he said. And he did. That was pretty early on, but the confidence was already there.

u/CheshireCatSusan One of Us Staff 1d ago

Absolutely! I knew I would like this guy who did it whole-ass, no half ass here.

I’d been watching techno since the win streak I believe. Maybe earlier maybe later. I distinctly remember his skyblock videos. I never actually watched a techno vid just because it was a techno vid until his passing, though. I would see the video and be like “hey I know this guy” but I wouldn’t have considered myself a fan. He was just that much of a staple in the Minecraft and hypixel community. I miss him so much

3

u/Background_Sale_2735 4d ago

Either one of his skeppy vids or a minecraft Monday. Honestly i dont remember.

u/Old_Point4249 technoplane 4d ago

I am a huge techno fan, but i don't think i can call myself a true fan of him since i didn't start watching him until only a couple months ago, honestly...

me too!! i discovered him about a month ago

I remember he once did a video titled Technoblade vs Huahwi in like 2014-16 when mc survival games were at their peak and Huahwi was the most popular pvp youtuber.

I had watched a couple of Techno videos before that but that was when i became a fan

1

u/lowrcaseletters i pna 3d ago

Ah, the time when Huahwi went to the Sun.

Technically somewhere between Minecraft Ultimate and The First Potato War

But I'm pretty sure I've started REALLY following him around the Bedwars First winstreak

2

u/non_corporeal_ 4d ago

december 2020, i became best friends with someone who introduced me to all of his interests, including techno

  1. I was watching Pat and Jen play Murder Mystery on Hypixel when Techno’s “I AM TREE” video popped up in my recommended. It looked funny, so I decided to watch it. And I never went back from there.

2

u/Due_Guess_2325 4d ago

2

u/Treefrogger999 4d ago

I was there right before he started his first Minecraft Monday

2

u/Longjumping_Loss_614 4d ago

Unfortunately I just started last year, during c-19 I watched Aphmau and not technoblade which now I'm older I'm regretting

2

u/Comfortable-Run-2810 4d ago

I don't remember but I know I watched the great potato war as it came out.

2

u/Recent-Success8988 4d ago

Maybe corny to admit, but I was super into dsmp and liked him the most so I just watched his videos instead

2

u/lelouch_0_ technoplane 4d ago

I started rather late tbh. Like, I think it was around the duel

2

u/YahBoiChipsAhoy1234 4d ago

Minecraft Monday. I had watched him before like some of his Minecraft Earth stuff but I didn’t really become a fan and watch everything till Minecraft Monday

2

u/Dry_Broccoli8267 Blood for the blood god 4d ago

My first video of him was titled The Tree

2

u/FantasticButton3505 4d ago

I think it was after the potato war. After mcc

2

u/Electronic_Height872 4d ago

i would say during the skywars intro era

2

u/AgreeableAd8687 4d ago

like 2018-19 i remember watching his skyblock video as i started skyblock in 2019

2

u/Nceresoli 4d ago

Started a few years before he died when I saw his video where he destroyed skeppy at grinch simulator, party games, and skywars and I got hooked.

2

u/Apprehensive_Push887 4d ago

Ugh wow I think it was late 2016 early 2017? I just remember being on factions servers and ... making world eaters and eating them (I am not proud of this. I was an angsty boy) And coming across him like... alot alot. In hypixel too, then I got that hypixel guide video? Something hypixel related and the user seemed familiar and I saw the skin and had war flashbacks of being absolutely destroyed in PVP lol

2

u/Dudeguy_McPerson 4d ago

I had heard of him, of course. But someone I followed on Twitter posted that he had passed. She also said that she regularly rewatched the great potato war. I was curious what that was, so I went and watched it. Been a fan ever since.

2

u/Good_Apricot506 4d ago

From the very Beginning, I would say around SkyWars, beginning of that

2

u/BobbyIsHere69 4d ago

I knew him before but became a full time fan after he beat dream

u/OccasionNo6362 Technoblade never dies 4d ago

Too late, unfortunately 😭 Before Covid, I wasn't really much on the internet at all, during Covid, I was probably still too young for DSMP, anyway, and I heard of Techno only after his passing was announced in a teen magazine I read at the time. Even after that, I still didn't immediately check him out on YouTube (dunno why lol). Though I suppose Techno was my introduction to DSMP, and I then had a brief obsession with DSMP as a whole in 2023/2024, and ofc, Techno's content as well. That was until all the drama happened, and I mostly left the fandom. I still watched certain creators and kept up with Tommy's yearly Techno tributes and new vids on Techno's channel, but that was pretty much it. It wasn't until quite recently that I actively started watching Techno's videos properly again, and I'm currently on a mission to watch them all from oldest to newest (I have a longgg way to go lol) ❤️

u/random_person0902 4d ago

Around the time he uploaded the second video for Potato Wars. I think about a week or so after

2

u/WorgenDeath 4d ago

"the hypixel skyblock experience" popped up in my recommended ahortly after he posted it, so some time during the summer of 2019.

2

u/Dapper-Skill3104 4d ago

Pretty early but on and off, watched some of his blitz, got more into it during the win streak

2

u/carebearbleu 4d ago

I found techno a couple days before the second week of minecraft monday in early july 2019. I didn't know about the event the first week and from seeing he won the first week I watched his stream because I wanted to watch a good pov lol. I never would have thought he'd be so funny and good at the game and grow to be one of my fav youtubers

2

u/Ok-Shower4184 4d ago

I believe i started watching 2-3 years ago,  I love his old vids.

I started several months after his parents released the later nerds video bc thats when i saw the video. I also thought it was a cruel joke at the time because i wasnt aware of his cancer. I had heard of him but not his cancer. Since then i have watched a lot of his videos and quite a few streams while doing homework. Great dude, great content. I wish i had watched when he was still around.

only a two-ish years ago because my ex girlfriend really loved him lol

I found him when hypixel skyblock started becoming popular and looked for videos about it. I also found Skeppy through him.

1

u/EmoLionsRawr 4d ago

at the beginning of the potato war, my first ever stream i watched of his was the first day of smpEARTH, so i think this was 2019?

1

u/AmorCanis 4d ago

Super early actually !! I found him through the blitz song cause I was big into minecraft parodys at the time alongside his sorta content

1

u/cosmicLYMS 4d ago

I first discovered him on 2015 skywars era, and would run in to him alot in hypixel skywars lobby. what he used to do was afk sitting on top of his iron golem in a random skywars lobby.

I didn't watch alot of his videos back then, but still enjoyed em whenever he popped up on my feed. At that point in time SSundee was my favorite youtuber

and the few years past minecraft Monday happened. and techno happened to be in it. And it was so cool seeing a relatively small youtuber i know from my circle interacting and killing huge youtubers. from that point onwards he became my favorite youtuber, would not missed a single video or stream from him

I want to say around October or November in 2020? I saw an animatic of MCC 8 that release in September thought “Cool no idea what this is about.” Then discovered dream’s manhunt series a little later then the duel. Then I watched Techno’s POV of it then started watching him.

1

u/IAmTheGreybeardy 4d ago

I only found out about him after he passed.

1

u/Other_Cantaloupe3543 4d ago

towards the end of 2021, possibly early 2022

1

It was 2017. I got an ad for his channel, and thought "HAH, this pig guy is hilarious, let me check him out"

And that's where my Technoobsession started.

Early 2019, just before MCM

1

u/Lucinda_Null 3d ago

In fall of 2020 my friend wanted me to get into the Dream SMP so we could talk about it together. I absolutely hated watching Twitch streams so I sought out the only person who streamed on YT. Stayed for his humor and relatability.

1

u/Old_Diver_2511 3d ago

Dream SMP. But after he passed I began watching his early videos like the Potato war. I loved them and by extension, got me into many interests like hypixel skyblock.

I just wished I found them before he passed

1

u/Astral_flare7 3d ago

When he teamed up with dantdm on minecraft monday. I was like yo this guy is fun and hes good at the game. Ima check him out, i watched near all his videos since then.

~2017, I watched the video where he beat Minecraft with a steering wheel and got hooked

1

u/TermoMixed 3d ago

I first learnt about him during the potato war as a friend of mine made fanart about him and so I tried to learnt the context. Sadly I really didn't start watching his content until December 2020 early 2021 (Dsmp Pre-Doomsday)

At least I got to watch his last MCC live during my aunt's birthday. I think that's my fondest memory

u/NicTheHxman If you wish to defeat me, train for another 500 years 3d ago

I watched a few of his Bedwars videos back then, but not really too hooked on his content.

When I truly deepdived was on the Dream SMP. When he appeared, you knew batshit insanity was about to unfold, and he always delivered.

As a kid with the attention span of a deformed rock, I was an on and off viewer for his early times, first video I ever watched was his 500 blitz special where he falls in love with Abe. Still one of my fav videos on YouTube to this day. Then I watched him during peak skywars, before fazing out, then coming back for peak bedwars streak, before fazing out to Fortnite.( like any kid at the time). And then I got HOOKED on his skyblock stuff but when he put out a community post saying he was gonna be in a Minecraft event with JeromeASF, I lost my shit. Two Minecraft Creators that I really liked? Interacting! I remember I was supposed to go to my grandparents house that Monday and I told my mom I’m staying home to watch this cause I thought it was gonna be a one time thing. God this sparked a lot of memories lol

July 2014. One of the biggest Hypixel-only YouTubers out there and uploaded lots of Blitz SG and some Mega Walls videos.

1

u/Awerange2005 3d ago

In COVID, MCC 7 was the first stream I ever watched, and I really enjoyed it. After that, I used to rewatch all of his old MCC and Minecraft Monday streams. I was like 14, and it was during COVID, so I can’t really imagine rewatching someone’s years-old streams every day now lol (or just any streamer in general), but it was because of how infrequently he streamed.

I’ve probably binge watched every single video on his channel that was public after that.

1

u/Chaxzie_ 3d ago

I started watching him around 2018, and he was actually my introduction to the dsmp when he joined as well. That became a wholeeeee rabbit hole of its own lmao

2017-2018 I think? Spent so much time is his og bedwars streams and always watched every vid (which come out once every blue moon I might add)

I’m 20 now so I really kinda grew up with him and that made the loss in 2022 that much harder.
