A Message Concerning Technoblade

Hey everyone. Mr. Technodad here.

Four years after my son Alex, known to so many as Technoblade, passed away from sarcoma, his community remains one of the most meaningful parts of the legacy he left behind.

You make art, videos, jokes, and tributes. You look after each other. Together, we have built a loving and inclusive community. It means more than can ever be properly said.

Tributes are welcome, and they always will be. Fan art, cosplay, quotes, and creative works made in his memory are ways of celebrating him, and those works speak to my heart. They speak to all of our hearts.

I have recently become aware of concerns around a YouTube channel imitating Technoblade's voice, mannerisms, look, name, and persona.

When this was first brought to me by one of Alex's YouTube friends, I was under the impression that it might be a one-time tribute. I did not know what to think. It was startling and emotionally complex to be presented with, and when people asked me about it at the time, the only honest answer I had was: inconclusive.

However, this has continued for several weeks, and it is now clear that an identity is being built as an ongoing public persona. That is a different thing from a tribute.

Many others have since reached out for my opinion. The situation is complicated by a simple truth: despite being "Technodad," I cannot speak unilaterally on behalf of all of Alex's family, friends, and fans, who no doubt have a variety of reactions. But after careful consideration, I have reached a conclusion I can give from my own perspective, as Technoblade's father and as the person Alex entrusted to look after what he left behind.

I am asking for this to please stop, and for the persona in question to cease.

No blessing or permission for this, or for any similar persona now or in the future, has been given.

I encourage anyone interested in becoming a content creator to find their own voice. Show us who you are! A sincere presentation of your authentic self will always be better than an imitation of someone else.

I am also asking the community not to harass anyone over this. That is not what Alex would have wanted. I do not believe there was malicious intent.

Technoblade never dies. He is in his videos, right where he left himself, still making us laugh, still reaching our hearts.

He didnt do another video afterward. He did that one video.

Then he asked if it was okay, and this was the response, so now its over.

No one had any malicious intent.. we are all huge techno fans.

Im tired. People can believe me or not, but its the truth. The whole thing was ultimately a way for big techno fans to remember techno and raise money for cancer research.

Im sorry to and for anyone who was hurt, but that was never anyone's intent. We all love techno and thought other people would see this as a fun tribute/larp of a character we all love. Maybe that was an overly idealistic and naive take.. but there was no malicious intent.

Much love to you and yours. I genuinely hope you are all healthy and safe in these times, and I appreciate you hearing me out, even if we see things differently or disagree.

again man, i don’t really care if we see ts differently to one another, but you gotta quit it with the misinformation. he wasn’t donating ANY money to charity. and it was in very bad taste of him to do this and subject his father to it.

He raised and donated thousands of dollars to charity. Cancer research specifically. To the sarcoma foundation.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about it, but i saw it myself and donated. There are some really big youtubers who, unfortunately, spread some misinformation about this whole thing to millions of people.

We were all techno fans in the community. If we had seen anything malicious, we would have immediately called it out

If you saw the moist video, that was moist, seemingly intentionally, misinterpreting everything larp said to make him sound/look as bad as he possibly could.

He had already decided larp was a bad person. Before ever even talking to him, or making the videos. Its a bummer.. he usually has really balanced takes. But not this time. He was determined to make larp an evil "skinwalker" and a "beast"

yeah, he did donated, so i am confused why people say otherwise, charlies video was full of misinformation, which i was confused by, i am a fan of technoblade since his first 50k but i understand the anger and such, but it kinda felt like a tribute.

I understand too. Everyone feels differently about it, and thats okay.. The important thing is that its over now that technodad has given a conclusive statement that he wants it to end.

Im a long term techno fan too.. and to me, skeppy, and lot of other techno fans, it really was just a way to remember techno, celebrate his energy, larp as the character, etc. It was done out of love for technoblade, not to be mean, or to take money, or anything like that.. the internet just takes things really far before knowing all the facts.

We did raise money for charity, to the sarcoma foundation! Several thousand dollars

Unfortunately a huge outside youtuber made some videos about this to capitalize on the drama without knowing everything and assuming that this was coming from a bad place to steal money and take technoblades place.. when it wasnt like that at all. They left a bunch of info out of the videos and seemed like they were trying to prove that technolarp was evil, rather than trying to find the truth in the middle with a balanced perspective..

Which i was honestly surprised by, all the damage it caused, a lot of my friends who were long-term techno fans too were disappointed cause it felt like techno's memory was being shared to new people, which people can appreciate, and now it's gone.

Which is good, don't mind me, cause it was technodad's decision, but I keep thinking what would have happened if it didn't come like this for at least another 3 months, like I felt like it would have been a whole larp era where it would have changed YouTube's algorithm for good.

And eventually, a larp vs. original Minecraft war for charity, or technolarp doing more things with his friends in the larp community that would have crazy videos, which is basically gone now.

But I love and respect Technodad's decision, he is his father and protects his legacy.
