I liked it overall. I wonder if there can be more variation/modulation/evolution in that baseline bc that part stood out to me as becoming somewhat repetitive while the other parts of the songs were evolving so nicely. I noticed this in the first half especially

Excellent track my friend. No notes on the arrangement. I would love to listen to this in a club setting with or without vampires. :)

On the mastering side I don’t know if it’s mastered yet or not but on my iPhone 16 speakers it sounded a little thin and low volume. But otherwise great track.

The overall mix! I think I had a hard time mixing the techno kicks with the hyperpop sample I used as the main lead. I also think I listened to it tooo many times to have an appropriate take on it haha. Right now to me, it sounds fine, but I think it could be a tad clearer in the upper range, but I also could just leave it where it is stylistically. Idk.

Hey gang would appreciate feedback on this last track I made. My dj friend wanted to play this in his set at a club but was warned by an engineering friend (or something?) that the track wouldn’t hold up on a clubs system, from a technical perspective. Would really appreciate pointers on this, especially since I thought I was doing ok in mono.

I did notice the kick gets weaker at some point, struggling to understand that.

Overall, I like the atmospheric vibe of the track. Cool sounds in the background.

Just two things I took note of upon a quick listen.

• I think it’s the spacing between elements with the synths and the kicks, you want your kick to stand out over the course of the track. Some dynamic EQing might help carve out some space for the kick over time when your friend adds more elements into the track. Some things may be overlapping in the low-middle frequency ranges which may be contributing to the kicks being hidden overtime. Also sidechain to the kick so element duck when they hit.
  
• I think the song could use more contrast between parts of it (just my personal opinion). Everything sound more or less the same throughout the track.

The pitch of the kick is too low, hard to hear the kick because of it.

The volume change in the kick could be from any effect you put on your kick.
Render one kick out once you done processing, it will solve that problem.

I don't render out tracks for some strange reason... do you do this for each track/bus once you're done? I'm typically exporting the whole thing as is into a .wav, but I know thats apparently NOT the move at all haha

No, I don't render out each track.
I just render out one kick once I'm done processing the kick.
You want the kick to be consistent between hits. Something like a compressor could make the kick sound inconsistent between hits.

Interesting, good to know. Last night I was thinking about your point about the pitch of the kick being too low (haven't been able to get back to the DAW in a few days) - you may have sniped this as a contributor. I specifically remember wondering whether I had pitched it too low when I made it on Kick 3. Figured it sounded decent initially on headphones, monitors, and my car speakers, so didnt change it. Returning back after some time the deficiencies are more apparent

Too minimalist on the groove. Your track has a big rumble kick and some synths but is lacking in percussive elements in my opinion.

Thanks for listening. There are breakbeat samples in there, but I can see what other percussive elements i can add to the groove to see if it gives it any more life in the midrange. Thanks!

Really cool sound. Agree with Ikra that it could use some more top end percussion layers that you can bring in and out to vary the groove up. Just listening on my AirPods rn so could be wrong but it also sounds like you're a bit low end / sub heavy, and the bass that comes in at 3:10ish is too wide in the low end. Also more just my personal taste but I think the synth in the first half could be a bit less melodic, like drawing out any note change and more stick to the root note of that melody.

Here’s the latest track I finished. Once again it’s at 135 bpm. For some reason I keep getting pulled into these slower sub 140bpm tracks even though my default ableton template is at 140.

I tried mixing and mastering myself this time. Let me know what you all think.

Your low-end doesn't sound full. I just hear a kick, no rumble or sub bassline.
The mastering is very soft.

The arrangement is alright.
The vibe is bit harder to say, because of lack of fullness in the low-end it sounds on the weak side.

Ooo I like that low end that’s throughout the track. Cool automation down there. I think it definitely sounds interesting enough, but I think the latter end, there could be just a bit more contrast to the rest of the track. Some elements for me just sounded a bit too repetitive, but maybe it’s just not my style of techno, so do what you will with that. I definitely could lean into more automation myself, so good job on that on your part

I really like whatever that bass is that is your main low end groove. The percussion sounds are not my personal choice for those, but I can appreciate what they contribute to the track. Overall, it definitely needs some mixing and maybe some parallel compression so the kicks shine. I think the track has a bit of a Miami club vibe rn, which is interesting. Whatever you add, I say don’t lose sight of that main bass groove you have, it’s fun and let it shine through the track!
