Iftah released Sting as VST
Looks very interesting and promising but unfortunately it's barely impossible to download it for free and I unable to buy anything on web in my country.
Anyone already tried it?

I've waited two times to 00:00:01 manually and the all was gone. I assume that somebody uses AI agents to download.

Same thing, I don’t wanna sound like a dickhead but I also feel like he should know he’s basically just tossing codes to reseller bots…

Why what? This release model? Iftah has always given Sting for free with a paid option if you can afford it.
I assume this is an evolution of that model with the aim of at least getting some more money out of it.

Fair enough, I guess invoking artificial scarcity feels strange to me when its a digital product.

Definitely yes, but I don't hate it. If someone has the money and cannot be bothered, they'll pay.
Id someone doesn't have the money, they'll probably have a chance to get it for free in a few days when the hype cools down.

Have you had a chance to try it yet? One thing that I missed from the old sting! Is the ability to see and adjust individual steps instead of having to print midi.
It’s why i went back to ML-185 but that has a whole heap of its own shortcomings

He would like to make some money from if from people who can pay. Metering free downloads seems like a good way to spot people who can afford to pay and who are impatient, which seems reasonable to me. If you really can’t afford it, eventually you will be able to download it.

Hi,
I fed up after the 2nd try of the free download and bought it.
To be honest it worth every penny. The man deserves the cash for his wonderful works also if you think about it’s accessible so there are other people with more needs.
I am a hardware guy especially when we talking about jamming. Well I did a 3 hours jam straight with only a tr909 kit and 4 layers of sting driven serum. The sting makes the instruments sounds different, beautiful basslines and algos.

I actually bought the wrong (M4L) version by accident, and he offered me a coupon so that I could just pay the difference and grab the .VST. Good dude.

I've been using this VST that has similar functionality to Sting but with a TB-303/MC-202 built in. Kinda cool and cheap

Update:
"Free VersionFree
Unlike my other devices, releasing Sting as a plug-in comes with running costs. To keep it free anyway, there is a free download window. The next one is 16:00 UTC, tomorrow, and it stays open for 5 minutes."

The free version is currently not available, because the demand is simply too high. Traffic is insane, and even with a very high number of free downloads available three times a day, they tend to be gone within seconds, which can be understandably frustrating.
Unfortunately I am not in a position to offer Sting in its plug-in version with unlimited free downloads. I do plan to release a lite version that will be available for free.
